Hi guys.

I have not posted here in a while.

I recently swapped my tc with a 601sp from torco enterprises.
This unit is supposed to be the low stall hd tc for our jeeps.

Well, it is different for sure. It is way smoother and feels more connected. i can cruise under light throttle and the tc lockup at 35 mph is now only approx 100 rpm between the un locked speed. It used to be a significant rpm drop from somewhere around 1900 unlocked to 1500 locked.

So that's the good news. The stall speed change seems to have made a large impact on drive ability. no more 2000 rpm mid throttle cruise dead zone.

The ok news is that it is significantly harder to cause shudder.

The bad news is that it is possible to cause tc lockup clutch shudder.

Where i used to find shudder, i now just find a gob more power.
And then i find shudder, it's much more subtile, but it is there.

I currently have the in motion tune and in the future i will go for the gde hot tune (i need the cel to go away for emissions tests)

I suspect that with the gde tune, i will not have shudder.

I think you will have worse shudder. Look up my dyno testing from a few years ago where I compared the IM SII to GDE ECO, then ECO to HOT. The HOT makes more torque than the IM SII. If you want to minimize shudder without another TC change, the ECO will do it, but it makes significantly less power than the IM SII you have now.

Sorry that the TORCO has not proved completely satisfactory, but thanks for willing to spend money to try new things and report to benefit the KJ CRD community. Sounds like they need tp put in stronger dampener springs.

I have had my Torco running for about three months in my KJ CRD with the ECO and TCM tune. When I spoke to them they suggested that I needed the 600SP which is a heavy duty model (which they said would have no problem handling the full tune torque). I don't have anymore shudder and am about to upgrade to the full torque tune. I have no idea how the 601SP might differ.

I agree there is more driveline grumble due to the more direct connection through the torco converter. I do feel that there is more of the direct transmission of the torque pulses but this grumble is not shudder, and no backing off is required. I also removed the rear tail shaft harmonic balancer some time ago.

I just installed the 600SP Heavy Duty torque converter from Torco Enterprise Inc. and am very unsatisfied. I have the GDE Hot tune on my 05 Liberty CRD with 149,000 mi and this supposedly "Heavy Duty" unit has that awful driveline vibration now when I punch it from a stop and the shudder is way worse than it has ever been with the stock unit. He wants me to remove it and ship it back to him for analysis but that is more out of pocket expense for me. Undecided what the next step will be but I do NOT recommend purchasing this converter.

Johnny's guarantee to me was that the 600SP would handle the Eco and Eco FT 335 ft/lbs of torque, and I did not ask about the Hot Tunes 364 ft/lbs. All I can tell you is what I said before, I have no issues at all with that TC.
