Ok, my Amsoil Eaa201 - having given sterling service for the last 6 years, is due for replacement BUT Amsoil has stopped making the 201 - lack of sales. This is a shame, because I found it to be very good and a quite high-flow filter despite giving good filtration. Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement reusable filter? I see that JbA does the Green cotton reusable filter - has anyone used it?

I should say that I'm not keen on K&N - I used them on my bike years ago, but it seemed to me that the high flow was achieved at the cost of poorer filtration and anyway I'm not comfortable with having an oil- soaked filter on the CRD.

Does it have to be reusable? I use Wix filters, according to test I have seen on BITOG, they have great air flow and some of the best filtration.

I have used a similar Amsoil one in the past, and after a years worth of use I can't see it filtering as well as an inexpensive Wix replacement.

I can't get the Wix filters here - I have to import them from the States, and by the time you add on postage and duty - costly! That's why I was thinking of another reusable filter. I can get the Mann-Hummel filter for the CRD from Amazon UK, but they aren't better than OEM.

It's still on the list on the website - just can't order it. I emailed to ask about it, an dgot the reply from Amsoil. I suppose that there is (relatively speaking) few KJ owners who want one - most (not the sort of enthusiast you get on here) will just let the dealer fit the OEM.

There is an importer, and I believe a factory in Poland, but availability is not widespread, and is for the more commonly available vehicles; so far as I can tell, my best bet for a Wix air filter is Rockauto.

I can get the Mann Hummel air filter over here (through amazon of course - where else?) - any opinions on this? And while I'm asking - what is everyone's opinion of the K&N 1012 oil filter - it seems I can get this over here too for about £15 delivered. The Amsoil filter I currently have cost about £20. Rockauto (I'm really beginning to love that company) also sells the WIX. Alternatively - my wife is visiting family in Alabama in October - she could get me some Mobil M1-301 (can't get them here either for the KJ).

Hi JJ - I've pm'd you. On the Wix from Rockauto - cost of the filter is under £7, postage brings it up to £38!

That's brutal!
I went to Seattle, Washington with my wife and bought Wix air filters at NAPA on sale.
$2.34 each!
Yes, I bought lots at that price.
Wix oil filters were super cheap as well, $4.25 each.

Yep - it's not the price of stuff in the States that's the problem, it's the costs of postage/shipping and (if it's over £135) import tax and value added tax thats the killer.

According to my UOA’s, the WIX and Amsoil seem to perform the same as far as dirt removal is concerned. Independent labs have shown that Amsoil flows more air, but not by much. I have wix filters in all my vehicles and rotate them out every 20,000 miles.
