Ok I'm in the market for upgrading my tires and I'm curious about some things. I have been reading through lots of the posts about using larger tires and having to regear. I want to know the biggest tire size I can stuff with a little rubbing. Why you must regear with the 265's? And if there are any other pointers I should keep in mind when choosing a tire. Also I have a 2" daystar and I want to keep my factory rims. Is a taller skinny tire better to run? I need you're guys imput you all have larger tires so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The reason I'm asking is because my previous vehicle I had 315 tires on a 4 speed and it was real bad with the power and mpg but I didn't think it would be so bad with a 265 to have to regear.

my mileage dropped 25% and the power was terrible. the regear made it better but its still a turd that gets terrible gas mileage. when these tires wear ill be rocking smaller tires to regain power. the auto 3.7 is a dog stock, bigger tires definitely arent helping. wish i had a manual trans. :?

I got a deal on my regear so its not a good figure for most to go off of. I had an intake and a Jet chip. Removed them because they dont do anything.

What gears you running? And you have 256/70/16 what's the difference between that and a 75?

4.10s

265/70 and 245/75 are a 31ish
265/75 and 235/85 are a 32ish

larger tires are not worth it. they wont fit well with a shorter lift either. large tires mean more bump stopping and more lift. the KK is limited in articulation already so the lift doesnt help and the bump stops are stealing it from you. im dropping my 4" lift when the 32s wear out. itll save wear on parts also.

Thanks for the info. Why are there no drop brackets for the libertys?

I am curious how that would work out. I had a drop bracket lift on another truck and it worked well. It would have to be custom but it would save on ruining cv's and ball joints

you would have to drop the entire cradle holding the engine and trans. what you would gain in tire clearance you will lose under the body. like i said not worth it.

i live in the panhandle. used to wheel eglin afb but its been well over a year since the liberty has been on any kind of trail. wheeling in florida sucks, its more like trail following.
