Ok, so what am I doing wrong, admitted, the Jeep seems a little anemic on power, but what's this about some people being able to put on a smoke show??? Am i doing something wrong??? I can't seem to even get a little chirp out of her unless i cut the wheel and floor it. What am I doing wrong? If all goes as planned, by the end of this summer i'll be able to put some JBA headers, a True Flow intake and a Flowmaster exhaust on the KJ, and i figure that should net me close to 50HP and about 60ish ft/lbs. Do those figures seem right? The headers claim 15-20HP and 26ft/lbs. just by themselves, i figure if i add in an exhaust (about 15-20HP and 20+ ft/lbs.) and an intake (maybe 10-15HP and 20ish ft/lbs.) i should be able to squeeze out somewhere around 270-280HP and 300+ ft/lbs. Now i know the math doesn't really seem to add up, but isn't the synergy of the parts supposed to be greater than the whole, blah, blah, blah, etc. etc.??? Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any tips on why i seem to be so low on power, i'd appreciate those too (i changed the plugs a few thousand miles ago, run full syn. almost everywhere but i also have E245/75/R16's)

Thanks,
-Savage-

Mine is always in the mood for a little speed and I can usually get a chirp out of her. I tried power braking once (just for kicks) and I started to go sideways. Scared the shiite out of me.

I think that once all the mods are complete (intake, throttle body spacer, headers, & exhaust) you will see better gains all the way around. Better MPG (when you behave) but also better performance when you need/want it.

As far as right now... Not sure, does it seem like it's not moving as it should be?

I'm quite sure I could roast a pair of tires on my jeep, and I have definitely chirped the tires on occasion at an over-zealous stoplight. But that's the benefit of driving a 6 speed :-D

I should see which tires spin when I burn out - I have the trash-lock limited slip, so I would think that both would be spinning

Hi, You have to remember that if you have bad tires w/ low traction you could prob burn out in a Ford Fiesta.I use to peel out a little w/ the stock good years but with Revos on no way.The traction is way to good and won't break loose. I could prob do a brake stand peel out, but i love my tires and don't want to abuse them.just my 2 cents. f.

Only one tire will spin if you are on blacktop. That is also a good way to burn the LS up in a hurry. If it was alittle wet then two tires should spin.

you would be lucky to get 20hp and 20ft lbs

the clams are always on the very high side

If I did all the things that clam to help with gas mileage the jeep would make gas and not burn it lol

scams and claims by reputable companies are two different things, i have a feeling that they may be a tad overstated due to perfect testing conditions in house, but i doubt that they're THAT grossly overstated.

I burned rubber a few times, but I attribute it to the stock tires and not the KJ's get up and go. I wasn;t accelerating very fast once the tires grabbed.

You can't add the manufacturer's claims. Your numbers are really high. The larger, heavier tires don't help you out either. Those numbers would put you at considerably more power than mine without N2O. My setup will spin both rear tires all the way through 2nd if the road is wet and I give it more than about 60% throttle. If I stomp on it in the rain, it will break 3 tires loose a little in FT 4wd, and then hook up pretty quickly with the lsd. On dry pavement, it doesn't break the 245's loose if I just floor it. However, if I brake torque it and launch at 2500 rpm, it will roast both rear tires and make people reach for the oh shoot handle. Don't try this if you don't have a high stall torque converter. It will cause excessive heat and can seriously damage your torque converter or transmission.

Would help alot if you weren't starting with a 2 ton rig. Nothing works better than originally starting with a good power per weight ratio then working from there.
