Siardi if you have the OEM replacement 5v glow plugs now (see ATXKJ's post) then you have the latest OEM plugs which came out as a replacement for the original OEM 7v ceramic plugs. Assuming that is the case and that one of the 5v glow plugs has died (seems odd but...) then a replacement 5v glow plug would be a drop in with no reflash needed. I'm assuming of course that when the 5v glow plugs were installed that your ECU was flashed for 5v plugs. I bring this up only because if your ECU was not reflashed for 5v glow plugs it's my understanding the excess current will burn out 5v glow plugs (e.g. absent the correct ECU flash you are on the way to losing the other 3 glow plugs).

I don't offhand know the PN for ordering individual 5v OEM glow plugs but if memory serves me back when they first came out 1 5v glow plug cost about the same as the kit of 4 glow plugs and the controller. As to what controller to use I have no clue but Keith probably would know.

Hope this reduces some of the confusion caused by responders to your original post assuming your current glow plugs were the original OEM 7v ceramic ones.

PS re. your latest post. Given that you have the OEM 5v replacement glow plugs you have 2 options for the dead glow plug - 1) replace it with a new 5v glow plug/no ECU flash needed (see comment above) or 2) replace ALL 4 glow plugs with the 7v imported metal ones and reflash the ECU for 7v glow plugs (NOTE - I have no clue what the impact would be of underpowering glow plugs by running 7v plugs on an ECU flashed for 5v plugs AND if you are currently getting an ECU flash from GDE then Keith can flash it for whichever set of plugs you are going to run with or, alternatively, if you currently have a GDE ECU flash for 5v plugs Keith can redo it for 7v ones for IIRC $50)

Thanks for your response, but no, I'm more confused now.

I believe I have whatever they put in that engine at the factory back in 2005, spoke with prior owner and as to his knowledge no GP's or re-flash were done.

Can I just drop a 7 volt metallic in cylinder # 2 and call it a day?
If so, does anyone have part number and or where to buy from?

Thanks to all, sorry I have a really hard time understanding all this.

If this keeps up I'm going to get confused. If you have the orginal 05/06 factory glow plugs (I vaguely recall seeing a way to check this ANYONE HAVE DETAILS?) then they are 7v ceramic ones and the answer is yes you can drop in a 7v metal replacement for a single bad 7v ceramic glow plug with no ECU flash needed.

Personally I would not do a single ceramic glow plug replacement rather if one ceramic glow plug has gone bad I'd bit the bullet and replace all 4 and then you can forget about dead glow plugs or, perhaps worse, broken ceramic glow plugs. A set of 4 metal 7v glow plugs runs about $180 delivered (actual price depends on $s to Euro exchange rate) from http://www.dieselglowplug.com/gx3123-di ... kkhtcoiad0 and a good how to for the swap is at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56696&p=630729&hilit=glow+removal#p630729

Thank you !!! Yes !!! that's what I was looking for, I will get the four plugs but replace just one now as I don't have the time to swap them all, but I like having them at hand so when I do have the time I can do it.

Thanks gain!!!!

I shall leave the forum to go order now....
