KJ Willy has the set up I was thinking about, Detroit locker rear and DTT front. I have select trac. Thanks TJKJ for the info. My biggest concern is that my wife occasionally drives my KK and I have a 14 year old boy who MIGHT drive it in a couple years.

The rear Detriot would be a bad choice if other drive your Jeep and not properly expecting how it reacts.Granted the Detriot locker is by far the best auto locker and the best forgiving on the street, snow, and ice but can be fun to those who do not know it's back there and what happens and how to drive with it.

The wife's motto is slow and steady, I'm not too worried about her. The boy probably won't be driving without me. The issue with a Detroit is powering into corners right? I've never had one but I've been looking and reading about lockers for awhile now.

Yeah when torque is applied they lock so those corners you gotta keep off the gas pedal or get that tire chirp, when slick out the rear end will try and pass the front end.

The traction control should take care of that I'd think. I don't like it when I drive but I guess it's ok for the family.

Traction control will make it worse with a auto locker(not to be confused with a limited slip diff, will not effect those).

Why I have a ARB in the rear, totally open for daily driving and safier winter driving and can fully lock it when I want/need it locked, not when it wants to.

How much did the whole rear set up with the arb cost. Will it work for the kk. Same parts or different.

If he still has the stock Chrysler 8 1/4" then it's the same but they make one to fit ours, it's almost $1000.00 plus you'll need onboard air to activate. Definatley the best locker out there but it's also the most expensive.

That's pretty sweet. Did he ever say how it's holding up? How much an improvement it was on hard stuff?

I was hoping he'd pop in here and let us know but I haven't heard from him in awhile.

I miss hearing from Diggerfreek on the forum too. Whatever he posted was either super useful or downright hilarious. He was always ready to help people out, even if it meant disassembling his own rig to find out how something works! :JEEPIN: I bet he'll be back on someday.

Probably got a job that takes all of his time. The rest he uses for wheeling.

I didn't know I was missed that much

Ok now for my :2cents:

I have 12k on my dual DTT and so far I love them. As far as the front goes, you can't even tell it's there under "normal" driving....

I didn't get much time this year to wheel the KK besides MOAB, but I can tell you that ESP activation while wheeling is almost non existent. This coming winter should provide a nice testing ground for the front.

As far as the rear goes: I LOVE IT! Plain and simple. Driving in the city it feels like a open diff and I know this might sound a little strange, but driving on the highway it makes the KK feel more stable in cross winds since I can feel that the rear is "pushing" the KK evenly down the road. I personally like the driving characteristics now better then before it was locked.

Well there you are again lol. That's good news. How'd it handle on the trails? Did they work like you thought they would with the traction control?

They are super smooth on the trail... I think I might have heard the ESP kick in once or twice all day...

Do you think that 4.10 gears would be enough for 32" tires? I was considering 4.56 w/32's if I could get them to fit, probably 4.10 w/31's if I can't. :JEEPIN:

personally I would go 4.56.

4.10 puts you back to stock when you up size your tires.... an auto 4.56 KK will be like my 4.10 manual KK. even thought I pull more revs at higher speed, I'm right in the power band when I need it with out pulling 5K in one gear then shifting and having the KK fall flat on its face when I'm in the hills..

Ok, after reading all these, I really feel like I've been away too long. I have an 09 that I was thinking of just putting in a limited slip dif in the rear. Right now, if you get a tire off the ground, your screwed if you try to move forward, or backward. I "assumed" (i know, that can be a bad thing) that with a LS in the rear, It was a cheaper way to go and does the same thing as lockers except there is no driver intervention. One thing I'm leery about and that's messing with my drive train. Having the lifetime warranty on the power and drive train, I kind of rather just leave it alone; let the brakes do all the work or just turning around and going back home in defeat. :banghead: And no, I don't rock climb, or drive in mud up to my wiper blades but even in the snow we get around here, limiting the wheel spin is a good thing.

On any normal application, a DTT acts like a LSD.... however with the BLDS system on the KK, the brake in essence turn the DTT in to a locker when one wheel is off the ground. The DTT "locks" itself way sooner then the ESP kicks in when both wheels are on the ground.
