Does anyone have a howto on replacing the lower rear control arm bushings? I think it's pretty easy, but it never hurts to be prepared. Also looking for part numbers for the actual bushings. Whats a good source? Are they all the same part?

Thanks,

My be easier to just replace the lower rear control arms as an assembly rather than trying to deal with the bushings along.

Go to Sir Sam's NOOB guide and follow the links to the factory service manuals for how to and the parts manuals. Download the appropriate year for your CRD for the part's manual but get both 05 and 06 FSMs (05 lacks diesel cooling system data and diagnostics but has illustration keys while the 06 is the reverse). FYI there are several spots where the FSMs are wildly wrong on torque but the ones I know about are obvious; all way too high.

Do you mean the upper control arm in the rear? I ask because my Jeep makes a vibration/hum noise, and the upper control arm was the fix they recommended. I didn't do it because I'm not sure they're correct. If you're having similar issues then perhaps they were right after all.

If you're talking about the lower control arms, there's a recall on those. I just had mine replaced.

Talking about the lower. I'll run it up to the local dealer and see if they'll replace them for me.

Thanks for the info.

Didn't you get your recall notice on the rear lower control arms?
Just let the dealer do it for free.
For the uppers, I made a ring to press out the upper ball joint and used sleeves from my Ball joint tool set to change the two rubber bushings. You can always make sleeves fro iron pipe that work, not rocket science.

Might not be part of said recall,it's not for all KJ's and only for some states.

I live in Illinois and I got the Recall.
Last time I was in New England in the Winter, I had to put up with snow and ice.
Check with a local dealer and search on Google for details on the Recall.
They may have missed you or an idiot at USPS chucked the notice in another
mail box and it ended up in the trash. Don't give up.

Go to Jeeps website or call the dealership and give them your VIN.

I stopped at a dealer and gave my VIN. It's not under recall. But they did quote me $350 to replace the bushings...

Amazon has Mopar rear arms for $120 per. They also have APDTY arms for $70 per.

Has any one used this brand? There are no reviews here.

thx

For that price I would try the one from Amazon. :pepper: Mine on a 2006 are under warranty. Got a card in the mail.

Which? Both those prices were from Amazon. The aftermarket was half the price, but I was concerned about the quality.
