Overall if you just look at jeep its a very small company. They have to stay alive and that means marketing to folks who would never , ever look at a Wrangler
Really don't see what the fuss is all about
Its like people saying Jeep should never produce a 2 wheel drive, my gosh they have been making them ( 2 wheel drives) for what 50 years or more in various models
Chill out and see what the final outcome is

Well said, Tom. If Jeep can't compete it will go under, or be bought up by another company. As long as they offer a 4wd Wrangler off the line that is supported by O.E.M. upgrades where folks can modify it and make it their own they should be allright.

Looking at it, the approach and departure angles look good. Ground clearance appears decent. If the axles are remotely strong, skids are available, and you get some tires with some sidewall, it could probably be a pretty nice little trail runner. Even with IFS/IRS. No big rock crawler of course.

Ya I think that it might be an ok trail runner. Before my KJ I owned a trail rated Patriot. It actually did pretty good on trails that I didn't think it could do. The electronics, ESP, TCS and brake lock differentials go a really long way to help out Ultimately it's weak point ended up being the lack of a true low-range. It would simple run out of power and bog on overly steep terrain. It sounds like from what I've read that the new Liberty/Cherokee won't have a transfer case, so will just have to see how it does. The Patriot had the CVT with a "Low" mode but it could only muster so much. With the new Libby having a V6 and it's 8 or 9 speed tranny maybe it'll do ok. Here's what a CVT and 4cyl engine can do though: (My old Patriot from 3 years ago)

The thing looks like a Subaru, not even the crossover one. :dizzy:
Not to keep beating a dead horse but, keep the wrangler how it is. It's definatly a nitche market with a huge following. Bring back the Cherokee with solid axels, available rubicon drive train, larger wheel wells and compete with the range rover. Maybe add diesel engines to all. I know, I'm dreaming again.

Don't look too bad to me. Heck 98.9% of Jeep owners don't need anything more than that anyways.
And thinking where I've had our Rav 4 over in Tanzania , most wouldn't even try and drive the "roads" with a KJ/KK over here .
I tried to get it stuck on some of the roads around my in-laws and it just kept going, so if the new " Liberty" is anything like that bring it on.

I think that its a nice-enough looking vehicle, just not particularly distinctive. There is nothing to really distinguish it (on appearance) from the offerings from other manufacturers in the same sector.

If it has excellent fuel economy, good handling, a decent choice of engines, a good roomy and flexible interior layout and is reliable, then I hope it will sell. It doesn't appeal to me that much, in the same way that the Nissan Juke or Quashqai doesn't appeal - but they do appeal to quite a lot of people.

I like the KJ - it doesn't have the squared-off look of a "real 4x4" (as it was put to me once  ) but it is a very competent vehicle and has done all that I have asked of it with lots to spare. My only real gripes about it are the incredible difficulty I have in accessing the headlights to change a bulb, and the lack of internal storage, and I 've addressed the latter with the GEAR seat covers! ( I also have a more minor gripe about the fact that the rear seats don't actually fold flat)

I expect that the new vehicle - while not "hard core", will equally be more capable than the vast majority of its owners will ever need.

That original photo looks to be of a Compass/patriot, too small for Libby/Chero replacement.

Bravo Cross is tiny!

I can neither confirm, nor deny, that I may or may not have seen a KL today.

If I had seen one, it would have been under the black, vinyl, padded covers. Details would have been impossible to make out, but the shape would have been close to the burnt orange one above. Had I seen one, I may have said that the shape of it wasn't unpleasant.

This whole post is probably not true.

There is one about 30 feet away from me. its a good looking vehicle. Not a Jeep as we have known them, but neither was the Kj.

I think we'll sell a lot of them.
