I've read the noob guide and just about the entire board on the CRD, and not trying to debate oil just wondering assuming the dealer did not use 0w40 synthetic, how long can I go until getting the correct oil changed out? My case of oil will not be in until end of the week.

I'm going to go with 0w-40 since the price is the same and I ordered a case.

Most dealers are now using Pennzoil Ultra 5w40 in the CRD Liberty. I think their contract with Mobil 1 ran out, and they went with Pennzoil. Every dealership in my area has been using the Pennzoil Ultra. Not sure if it is any better or worse. I, personally, have been using Mobil 1 0w40.

I was told by my dealer in Germany to use 5W40 Mobile 1 ESP, which I order from NAPA when they do not have it in stock. Sometimes I have been able to find it at Pep Boys as well. I can always find it at the local Mercedes Benz delership.

Jinstall,
The ESP is designed for engines with diesel particulate filters and have lower initial TBN, a different, and in some eyes, an inferior antiwear additive package, and is about 35-40% higher in cost. I have to use ESP in my wife's Grand Cherkee CRD but good old Mobil 1 5w40 TDT is better. I'm saving up for a DPF delete and once that occurs, I'll be forever free of $10/quart oil.

Long as they used a Diesel rated oil, a week or so will not hurt it. Or leave it in there for a few thousand miles. If it is not Diesel rated oil don't drive it. :pepper:
