I just bought a new lift kit for my '06 KJ Sport and read that I need to extend my brake hoses, especially the driver side rear brake hose that goes from the caliper up into the wheel well. Instead of buying or fabricating brake hose relocation brackets, I'd rather upgrade my brake set-up with extended stainless steel braided brake hoses to better accommodate my lift, larger tires, armor, etc. However, I don't feel like spending $300 on a set from JBA [http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-SS_brake_hose_kit_for_4_6__lift-12.aspx] or $200 on a set from Goodridge [http://www.boostparts.com/goodridge-4-extended-stainless-steel-brake-line-kit-jeep-liberty-2002-2007.html]. In order to save money, I would like to buy and install some extended universal SS brake hoses from eBay that are between 4" and 6" longer than OEM [http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=universal+stainless+steel+brake+hoe&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=universal+stainless+steel+brake+hose&_sacat=0]. Does anyone know the lengths of the OEM brake hoses on a KJ (driver side front & rear and passenger side front)? I'd assume they are the same lengths across the KJ years & models. If not, I would need the lengths for an '06 Sport. Thanks in advance!

The hoses are not the expensive part,it's the junction blocks required that are expensive. Those kits have everything needed and trying to piece a kit together yourself will always end up cost more $$$.

Skip anything as important like brake lines on fleabay.Get good lines that are DOT approved.

Does anyone else make SS braided brake line kits besides JBA and Goodridge for the KJ?

It looks like the cheapest I can get the Goodridge G-Stop 4" extended SS braided brake line kit (part # 4-15519) for is $155.96 shipped. Is there a better deal than this for a KJ SS braided brake line kit?

Is it necessary to extend the brake hoses with any lifts or depending on height? Parden my ignorance, Iam an old guy!

Normal lifts in the 2 -4 inch range no, 05-07s need to make a bracket to drop the mounting point from the frame down 3 inches or so, fronts are OK

Nope lol. I am leaning towards purchasing the Goodridge G-Stop 4" extended SS braided brake line kit. Out of curiosity, why does JBA's kit cost twice as much?

From the link you posted looks like a halfa$$ed kit with straight blocks. Will require modifing from the look at the pics.I'd be wary also since in '06 and '07 the KJ requires 4 brake lines and not 3 like '02-'05's.The JBA kit comes with the correct OEM looking junction blocks so it is a total bolt in kit with no mods needed, hence the higher cost.I bought that same kit from JBA second hand(new in box though) and came in very handy when I SFA'd my KJ since it then just needed longer hoses and the correct banjo ends for the Ford and Chevy calipers.

I know my rear brake line was a bow string(really maxed out, almost broke) with the standard length OME rear lifted shocks(not the N132L's),totally unsafe. The fronts are long enough but the braided lines help with the braking feel anyways so change all 3.

I like the JBA kit, but don't feel like ditching out $300 when I spent over $4,000 the past month in parts and still need to re-gear.

I'm not buying the Goodridge kit from the previous link I posted. If I buy the kit, I will purchase it from AutoAnything [http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/61A3671A0A0A2074822.aspx] and they will beat NOPI's price of $155.96 shipped. I like that the Goodridge kit is D.O.T. certified, T.U.V. approved and backed by a lifetime warranty. Before I place my order, I would make sure the kit comes with all four brake lines.

The Goodridge G-Stop 4" extended SS braided brake line kit is made for the '02-'05's since it does only come with 3 brake lines. Gotta love accurate marketing lol.

Do they make extended rubber brake lines for the KJ? If they do, I am having a hard time locating them.

No.

The fronts are really not needed, the rear(s) are.Changing the fronts to braided lines will produce a much firmer pedal feel since they won't expand like rubber lines.

Well, it looks like I have no other option but to buy JBA's SS braided brake hose kit for 4-6" lift. Just digging the endless money pit deeper. Thanks for the help!
