That looks very nice, my next question is: Will one side stuff all the way with the other wheel hanging or stop short?

My math says it will be very close. I don't want to bind and have a reason to bust my axle.

I think the 265/70R16 is about the same height as the 245/75R16, "31", which is more like 30.5.

Did either of you need spacers to make them fit and still be able to turn? I am deciding between 265/70R16 and 265/75R16. I really like the idea of the 32s, but I don't want to swap wheels (until I can get a wheel with TPM) and I don't like the idea of a spacer (and don't want to spend $250 on them)

265/70s are considered 32s, but of course that means their true OD's are around 31.5". My 245/75s are 30.5" and they rub when stuffed so if you want a more aggressive tire like my M/Ts I wouldn't go any bigger than 245/75, as I would suspect major rubbing, especially with any lift <2.5".

265/75/16:
Section Width = 10.43 inches
Overall Diameter = 30.6 inches

245/75/16:
Section Width = 9.64 inches
Overall Diameter = 30.46 inches

Good idea if running M/T's. The reason to go with 245/75/16 is to reduce the possibility of rubbing on your suspension (shorter in width by around 1/2 inch).

As for the 265/70 being 32's...not quite there. The rubbing is noticeable on my front when I am in full lock (left or right). I'm at a 2" BDS lift. It was worse prior to a slight Clevis lift (just over 1/4 of an inch added). I have not taken it off road so I can't comment on what happens when the tires are stuffed or fully articulated. I assume I may have some rubbing on the front fog light doors and the pinch weld. I plan to trim the fog light doors slightly, and bend the pinch weld to eliminate the rubbing at full lock.

I'm looking at buying new Rims but I have to do some research on what backspacing I need to go with. I've heard some nasty stories with backspacing, so I wanna do it right.

Couple pics of 265/70/16's when Jeep is articulating. I was going to put the Jeep up on a higher incline but there was a Semi pulling into the docking bay and I had to get outta there.

i would ike to put in my .02 on this one
we are running a 225/75 16 on our KJ or 29.4" tall X 8.8" wide acording to MFG (goodyear)
at full stuff with no lift when they were brand new we only had about .25" to .5" until rub
wich in my book is about as good as it can be because i hate tire rub
it has been my experance with almost every type of vehical made that 1" of lift will allow about .5" to .75" of tire, until you get over 6" of lift and talk full size trucks.
with that said i would not push my luck and risk the rub but rather go smaller and keep the power to the ground not the fender well
again just my .02

No spacers, although they did rub a bit on the pinchweld (which has since been taken care of), and I believe you are right about 265/70's being 31" as I find the specs to show 30.7", a 32 would most definatley rub front and rear probably

265/70s are like 31s; my fault! I was thinking 265/75, which actually is like a 32, so my bad. 265/70s have OD's similar to 245/75s, looking at different brand's tire charts.

Something that helps when looking at this sorta stuff:

You can still go wider, though, without getting taller. a 245/70R16 ends up being only ~0.1inches taller than a 225/70R16, if you can believe it, but it's a full 20cm wider. And of course, manufacturers don't make tires to exactly match their rated size, depending on tread. That 245/70R16 is what a lot of stockers here run, that and the 235/70R16 that comes stock with the offroad group (which is actually 0.4inches shorter than the 225/75R16)

As for geekster's comment about the BFG 265/70R16s only rubbing on the pinchweld, that's great news! That's the tire I want to get, but I hadn't seen many people running it. It was either that or the 265/75R16, and I think I'd prefer not to tear off my fenders playing with flex :-P

Yea go with the 265/70/16 if you dont wanna play the Fender Destruction nor do you want to do some trim work.

I would look stupid with a 4x2 bound up wouldn't I ????  Thats why I'm running 245's. If I find that longer shocks puts the width in a bind, I'll switch to LT 225's.

I think, I'll hold with my 245/70's until someone shows the flex with one wheel dropped. I don't wanna bump-stop it. I really wanted that extra width though.

Thanks for the pics.

I'll probably try on a set of 255's, I should've jumped right from my 215's to 255's. Its a waste of money doing it in increments.

I may have pictures for you Saturday, April 29th. I'm heading to a local Jeep Event and they have a real RAMP! haha.

When you do, could you give me these measurements: Ground to bottom of outside fenderflare lip front and rear on level ground. Shock type rear. and how much space before touching the inside of rear tire to inside of fender and outside of tire to the fender? If you are going to top out one side thats great. When you hear it drop, stop and measure. I would also like to know how much weight you are toting including body weight and fuel.

I'm concerned that the width might be the rubbing point when the tire stuffs at its angle.

It don't matter how high the lift is (on the KJ) without wheel spacers because the width will get you.

I guess I could always air down for a slightly larger footprint.

Thanks
