Cobra Radar 6 Band

I was wondering if anyone has bought this CB radio from amazon.com? I wanted to make sure it is the same thing in the pic as it is from the cobra website. After all, it is only $60 compared to the one from cobra's website that is $130

thats the one I have it's great but I bought mine from QVC for $119 cheapest I could find

Great CB. Looks like you missed the one for $60, cheapest it show right now is $90. There's also this place where they have it for $89 and great service. Real friendly folks and quick delivery.

If you do get that one, it's an easy install.

do you have it? if so, does it just plug into the cigarette lighter? are there any other hook-ups or anything?

it doesn't hook into the cigarett lighter you have to run wires & hook it up

The Cobra handheld "road trip" plugs into the cigarette lighter, but I got feedback from the engine so I switched to batteries. Then I got tired of lifting the handheld and got the 75 and am much happier.

All I did to connect it was get an "add a fuse" for the postive wire, grounded the negative to a pre-existing hole behind the plastic panel that pulls down in front of your knees, put the connection box (very small) under the drivers seat then ran the antenna wire. I mounted the actual unit on the dash to the right of the wipers. Very quick and painless.

so, overall, it is a good cb? would you recommend it, or recommend buying a CB with a central unit that allows u to change stations there? I was wanting it b/c u don't have to deal with where to put a CB central unit. there is only the hand-held. is there enough cord to be able to reach to the passenger side? thanks

I'd recommend it.

Here are the positives: You don't have to find a place to put a box, can change the channels on the unit or lock it so you don't do it on accident, good sound, weather alert is cool, nice soothing color you can see easily day or night, easy install and it will reach the passenger seat.

Negatives: A little heavier than a traditional unit with a box, which makes sense since it's pretty much self contained. I've only ever had this and the giant portable one so to me it's still light.

what kidn of antenna would you all recommend then? i will probably be mounting it on top of the car, on my roof rack, that my bro and I are going to make. thanks for all the help, seriously!

I've had good luck with Firesticks and Wilsons. No problem with the help, that's why we're here.

In your third picture, what's the plastic box mounted under the seat that you have the connection box sitting on? And what's that nice bracket holding it down?

That's the Mopar sub, the bracket is part of it. It made a nice perfect spot to mount the connection box (good ol velcro :wink:

).

A lot of people have the Cobra 75W hand-held. It works great on the trail.
