Looks good, I like how you kept the chrome around the reflective part. I feel like it's different from how others have done it.

I cleaned the KK off after all this snow we had, AND I noticed a flaw in Jeeps. Our door handles, yes our door handles. They suck. Ice gets around the button and bam you can't press it in and open the door. You're then forced to check each door until you find one that opens and climb through the Jeep to open the door from the inside. :banghead:

I laughed at this post yesterday, and today I had trouble getting into mine. I guess she wasn't feeling like opening in the 23 degree weather.

Most door handles you can pull on to open or bang on them a little to break the ice up. With ours the ice literally surrounds the button and you can't do anything to help it.

Wow seriously, flaw, need to sell now.
I didn't take the first post serious. I've had to take a lot more than a hair dryer/ heat gun to get in a vehicle.
And didn't think the vehicle had a FLAW.

LOL. Good one, Cherrie.

I've actually NEVER had this problem once. Weird.

Me either. I was just making a suggestion. I just usually smack the button with my hand and the ice breaks and the door opens?

And heres another suggestion. Pour a bucket of cold water on it then open immediately.

It started as rain and transitioned to snow. But I never had the problem til the storm. There was literally ice around the whole button not something you can chip away at or anything. I tried. It was easier to just go in another door and let the truck warm up to melt it.

Replaced my serpentine belt at 44,500 miles. Upon removal of the old belt, it definitely had a few small tears in it.

Well, after watching a somewhat new Grand Cherokee get hydrolocked on the trails down here in FL, I decided I didn't want to be the guy getting towed out. Sooo, I rerouted the air intake from the front grill into the cowling.

Try a light coat of etching primer. That should penetrate the coating and give it a good bonding surface.

Tried that, No go. It did last longer then just paint, but not by much.
Also tried ammonia wash, light sanding, High heat painting. The Galvi just does not like paint.

Galvi is made to stand up against the harshest environments like ice and water so no paint or anything else will be able to penetrate in and hold. Also I wouldn't try sand blasting because the metal is not going to get any barer then it already is. Just my :2cents:

But I would love to see a final installation pic because a want to either make one myself when I get the room or just buy one from someone that's willing to make one for me.

I am currently doing the vinegar wash and it seems to be working. However it does take a long time and several applications. Then I will use an alkaline based primer and top coat.
I have a KA so my rack design won't work for the KK. But here are a couple of Pics.
Image
All the top bars are parallel for caring long stuff, and the front top bar also adds some protection for the lights.

Cross bars are tacked up, just need to finish welding those, and make the top ring, then mount it. Oh and paint. I'm going to paint it with black POR-15. That stuff is ROWDY!! It dries ridiculously hard.

Can't wait to see the finished product :)
