long story short..my 2005 jeep made a beeping noise.sounded through the the dash..jeep died.would not restart,
towed it home, hooked up tester to it said cam sensor failure, replaced it,no start ,checked for any more codes there were
none, replaced crankshaft sensor still not start, jeep has 91,000 on it,i decided to do the wp/timing belt
had a lcal shop do that,a after timing belt/wp replacement, still would not start, the shop said the ecm was bad,so i sent it to flordia to be check out, they said it was fried and the couldn,t repair it ,had to get a oem and the pay to have it flashed
put in and it still won't start, now the mech.said it needs a camshaft because the cam sensor isn't picking up a pulse when the hook up dyanostic tool, can anyone give some help with this, can it be something else causing this

parts replaced
timing bet/idlers
waterpump
thermostat
camshaft sensor /twice
crankshaft sensor

I'd start with the basics, is the wiring between the cam sensor and the ECU ok? It probablyruns through than big loom that passes near the fuel head bracket. I'd buzz out the wires back to the ECU connector. I'd hate to think that a simply wiring problem might be the only problem you actually had.

I think you can find the wiring pin out in the Service Manual.

If the code can be translated as meaning 'no pulse was detected', then there is also the possibility that the timing belt has broken and the cam is not turning.

If the code simply means that there is an impedance problem with the sensor circuit (sensor 'open' or sensor shorted), then I"d agree that the sensor, wiring, or connectors (possibly ECM) should be subjected to diagnostics.

Consider the possibility that the timing belt has broken.

To check this, you might pull the plug on either side of the engine cover to see if the cam is actually moving when the engine is turning over?

the timing belt has been replaced.. the mech. hooked up a diagnostic machine to the cps and turned over the engine... looking for a pulse and ran a graph to see the pulse there was none..just flatlined

Look at the circuit diagrams to see the wiring from the sensor to the ECU to check for shorts or open circuits.

Circuit diagrams plus everything else you need to know is in the 2005 KJ Service Manual here, courtesy of Sir Sam in the Noobs Guide. :)
