I have no clue how some of you guys manage to get 17+ mpg.

I get 13-14 mpg in a bit city, I have yet to take it on the freeway for a long trip but the best I managed on a 15min drive doing 110kph was 16.5 mpg.. It was going up pretty steady untill I got off at my exit.

Edit: I'm sure the 20in wheels aren't helping whatsoever :D any jet owners on here that manage better mpg than I do?

Good to hear someone else getting some decent mileage. Keep up the good work!

Probably cause I'm still bone stock.

True that. I got that kind of mileage when mine was stock too.

I have a jet with a roof rack and grille guard and get way better mileage than that. Usually close to 20 highway (I travel often, stick under 70 mph when possible) and city about 15.5 mpgs.

I've already learned to feather off on the gas, it's tough to keep it even through 20 minutes of down town rush hour traffic in Minneapolis, but I average 20.8 in the city, 22-23 on the highway.. 08' Liberty Limited with a Sky Slider, Tow package, and steps the rest is stock. 64k miles.

How long have you had yours for? You should be getting even better when it starts to warm up and with the better fuel.

I've had Pepe for about a week now, bought last Wednesday. I only reset the onboard EVIC MPG dealio once and that was at the start of my trip last Friday evening, what do you mean with the new fuel?

There's a set date, I believe is in the middle of March or April that gas stations use a better blend for warmer months. Pretty well known fact. Also, your engine will warm up quicker during the warm months. Every vehicle I've had has gotten 1-3 better mpg during the warmer months.

Oh that's what you were referring to, yeah. I have not heard much on this fuel stuff but I hope it does not end up like the other stupid government rules on processing fuel differently for different states etc... :banghead: As long as gas prices do not rise due to it I'm happy :) Or if the math works out where it costs less MPG wise..

Here in Jersey, it's usually the trend that in the Summer months, the price goes up. At least by the shore.

New York is the same, gas goes up in the summer, oil goes down. Winter is high oil, "cheap" gas. I know we're already a lot higher than last year. It was no where near $4 a gallon until May or so. Price of gas is pretty dumb if you think about it anyways. The whole "can't change your price until a shipment arrives" is bull that isn't enforced. Gas stations are out there the minute gas goes up to increase prices, yet they wait until that shipment to drop them.

Now gas on the water is a whole different story that is complete highway robbery at $5+ a gallon. AND it's "illegal" to fill up your boat at the dock at your house with gas cans.

Anyways, I still average about the same, probably get about 1mpg better with the summer blend. Never really paid too much attention besides the fact that I'll get over 300miles to almost every tank in the summer, when in the winter, some tanks will get 260-270ish(might also be due to slightly more city driving).

When I worked at a gas station, every morning we had to make a phone call to check prices. If it went up or down, we changed it immediately. Maybe that was just our honest business, but that's how we did it.

Always on the weekend we had people pulling up with there boats and filling them saving quite a few bucks. Also, it wasn't uncommon for someone to bring me 20 5-gallon jugs to fill. Of course they were bringing them home to fill their boat. Never heard of anyone in Jersey getting caught doing that.

Some people get caught here, depends where they are and how big of a mess they make. But If you have a small boat it's great, just pull up with the trailer and you're good. $100+ later and you have a full tank.

When your boat is the 2nd from the left you can't really trailer it and 300+ gallons of fuel gets a little hard to sneak lol. (Picture was taken Around 7 or 8 in the morning the Monday Sandy hit. The property is a foot higher than the street, and the little poles are about 3-3 and a half feet tall. The boat is a 71,I believe, 38' Pacemaker)

I hope your boat was not badly damaged, so what is the deal with this special button people say to press when going below 60mpg, the tow button? I have seen that mentioned in a few posts but never fully understood when, why, and how.

You mean 60 mph? Lol. Yes, they're talking about the tow/haul button. I have never used it yet. Someone might chime in about it. Changes shift points, not sure how much, and I believe lockouts overdrive. Not something I want to do. Getting 20mpg my own way.

It locks out the overdrive. If you're cruising at say 50mph, sometimes the tranny will shift into OD and the engine tends to bog down and get sluggish. Most hit the button to lock it out and stay in 3rd so they keep power and get "better" mileage. As for my boat it was fine. All 3 of ours and the other 2 in the pic were fine actually. We ended up riding out the storm because of the boats and by the time we decided we could leave it was too late to get my grandpa down the street lol. House was fine too, 8ft of water on the property, nothing in the house. We're lucky the 1st floor is about 10 feet off the ground. Everything in the garage went completely under, you felt it all floating and hitting the floor boards.

Yikes well glad you are okay, ah yes MPH would be the correct term... Thanks for the info, I get around 20 as it is in the city, including rush hour stop and go for 15 mins or so.. so I guess I am okay right now. Thanks for the info though, not sure how I could reliably test that in my 20 minute commute though..

Just curious, are you calculating your mpg by hand or by the EVIC computer reading? Word on the street is that they're not 100 percent accurate, but I can't vouch for that.

20 city is amazing! And your "rush hour traffic" makes you sit bumper to bumper for 15 minutes?
