Hey all! Last week I purchased a 08' Liberty Limited, stock except factory options such as Navi, Sky Slider "Working great so far though its winter so I have not drove around with it open," leather seats, tow kit, etc. He has 64k miles and I just took it out on a 200 mile road trip.. nothing wrong with it that I noticed so far! I was wondering if you jeep vet's had any suggestions for things I should do to my "new" KK right from the get go. It already had the CV replaced, new brakes, and a oil change when the dealer got it < 1 month ago. The only major issue I see "though it is an option" is the park assist seems to not function well, it seems to go in and out.. oh well, its not a necessity.

Thanks for reading this wall of text. Look forward to some replies and ideas!

Unless you have all of the service records I'd start by swapping out all of the fluids, transfer case/transmission, front and rear diffs /oil change, etc then new set of copper plugs
Then you're sure of what you have from there on out

Thanks for the tips tommud. I am in the process of getting the service reports from the dealership but that is a great list. And yes, I love it! Way more fun than my old 07' Cobalt haha...

You'll love the skyslider in the spring and fall. It's great in the summer but you can really bake on hot days. That being said, I use mine year round, it's open almost every day in the summer and I even had it open 3 times this year already(there's still snow on the ground if that helps lol).

Thinking about any lifts or tires?

One thing I wish my Rene had was a sunroof or skyslider. Oh well.

Enjoy it and put some cosmetic trail scratches in it :jester: :JEEPIN: .

Haha awesome replies, yeah it is a good 35 degrees during the day here in the Twin Cities still so I don't know when I will open her up.. but the wind noise is not that bad at all, hell its a Jeep right? Even if it looks like a luxury liner inside.

I can't wait for the first day it is around 50 degrees, going to go buy a cigar, put the SS back and listen to some tunes while driving around the cities. I'm not sure about tires or lifts yet, I probably wont be off road much through the year..maybe 10 times or so? Could be more, not sure yet.. mostly while I take my girl camping etc... I may look at getting a performance chip at some point though I have not noticed the 30-40mph deadzone people complain about, my jeep seems to accelerate fine through it. But..of course I was upgrading from a 150hp 4 banger.. so anything seems powerful. Any other recommendations?

Problems so far: Tire Pressure Monitoring System went out on my driverside front tire, its showing "---" where the PSI should be and says service it. Not sure what that's all about. I think the park assist is working now, though it doesn't seem to beep when I get closer to objects it just gives me the single beep when it activates "when I put it in reverse." Gas tank overflowed during filling once but has not since. "I've only filled it 2 times since last Wednesday, "put around 400 miles on it so far with a trip."

Your springs should be sagging by now. You may want to look into replacing them. OME makes a pretty good replacement suspension plus you get a little over 2" of lift compared to when it was new. :2cents:

What would be the best way to visually inspect the springs to see if this is true? Or is it not visible to the naked eye? Any idea on the TPMS?

You can measure from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender flare. I think it started at 18.5 inches stock. Mine is an '08 and is down to 17.5-18 inches. Part of that is the extra weight of rock sliders and a roof rack, but I'm sure part of it is sagging springs too. I'm lifting next month so I'm super excited.

I don't know much about the TPMS system. I have the simpler system where the tire light comes on if any wheel has low pressure (not individual pressure readouts). I can tell you that if a TPMS sensor isn't functioning, the tire will have to come off the rim in order to replace it. Also, as far as I know, you can't just replace the battery in a sensor; you have to replace the whole sensor. There are Dorman TPMS sensors for sale on Amazon that are significantly cheaper than OEM. Has anyone tried these to know if they are decent?

Hmff, I will hold off until it gets warmer so I can count out a temperature change error, and see if it "just goes away" otherwise when I get my tires rotated I'll get that done too.. As far as saggy springs I will have to measure when I get some time, though it seems she rides fine right now. Any idea where I can find the post that showed how to weather strip the skyslider to reduce wind noise? The gentleman had pictures of it as well, the search feature seems broken for me..
