I went for mine a few months ago and all I got was a renewal, so next year I'll find out if it passes. In Jersey, they only check the emissions.

And the horn, e brake, and correct me if I'm wrong I think they rev it once or twice...don't know what they're doing revving it but yeah. Lol

I think they rev it to get a more accurate reading of some sort. Maybe to clear the catalytic converter.

I'm not 100% but I believe that they rev it because that is when our vehicles in this case our Libertys will produce the harshest emissions.

But like I said I'm not 100%.

Hood strut mod installed! I used the Hoodlift system, and am very happy with the results. Pics in the link. http://hoodlift.com/products/jeep/hoodlift-for-08-13-jeep-liberty/

I ordered the kit from Morris 4x4 Center. Here is that link in case anyone is interested: http://www.jeep4x4center.com/hoodift-system-war905020.html
The cost turned out to be about $20 more than what people are paying by cobbling together their own components, but I'm happy to have everything I needed shipped to me all together, and have the hood struts be brand new instead of from a 12 year old Cadillac.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out. The hood lifts itself after you open it about 4 inches, and it sits higher than it used to on the old prop rod. There is plenty of room now for working on the engine-- changing spark plugs, etc.-- without hitting my head or bumping into the prop rod.

Awesome, lfhoward. Sometimes I wonder how much that freaking hood weighs! I do open it up every week, so it's possible this may be in my future.

Since I like to do as much of my own maintenance as possible, this kit is going to be great! One more nice thing about it is that the instructions that came with it are spot-on, really well done. There is no guesswork with the installation.

Every so often Morris 4x4 has free shipping, and the kit was only $69. It cost less than Weathertech ventshades, which was my other idea for a Jeep treat. :D

Spending some tax return money? Might pick up some Weathertech mats up with some of my extra money I should be getting soon.

Yes! It's nice to get a tax refund. Mine was small though. That's not a bad thing, because it means I am claiming the right number of deductions and not giving the equivalent of an interest free loan to the government.

What comes in the kit? Drilling required? Post pic and details please. I've mentioned, before buying I had looked into this mod, still haven't done it. Yet!

The Hoodlift kit comes with:
- 1 set of instructions
- 2 gas springs
- 4 ball stud brackets
- 8 screws and lock washers
- a drill bit of the appropriate size

Tools needed:
- trim tool or flat screw driver
- masking tape
- sharpie marker
- center punch and hammer
- cordless drill
- 5/16 ratchet socket (for the screws) and drill attachment
- scissors (for trimming back hood insulation where the ball studs mount)

Time needed: about 30-60 minutes
The install requires drilling 8 holes (2 for each ball stud bracket). That means after completing this mod, the Jeep will be officially yours.

Here's a pic from the Hoodlift website. Mine looks exactly the same, except it's blue. :jester: It's too dark outside to take pictures now.

Seeing Digger's KK scaling a snowbank just makes it harder to wait for my lift! It's still in a box in my hallway... :ALONE: Sure wish my March 11th lift appointment would hurry up and get here!

Still playing with the 245/75r16 falken rocky mountain ats

While I love the highway aspects of the tire, I'm not real happy with the snow performance of the tire....

Hi JeepMonkey,
How did the rear bumper install go? I would love to see some pics. What kind of new bumper did you get?

Digger, have you regeared at all, or are the 245's fine with the stock gears? After my lift goes on I am thinking about getting 245's. I know with 265's regearing is almost mandatory.

I don't think Brian ever regeared his with the 265s. The performance mods though made him as fast as stock maybe a little faster.
