A tune can help with this issue. The base timing is a bit retarded at that load point and some vehicles can exhibit misfire (incomplete combustion) and then you get a nice blast of hydrocarbon coming out the tailpipe, which tends to have that bluish color.

One could go crazy following up on CRD noises.
Suggest to put in the tank a Dodge diesel fuel pump and the Green Diesel Tune.
All the other stuff when due or when it broke.
Wheel bearings drove me crazy for a long while.
Just run it a lot of miles, that is the way to go.

So I did a little more playing with it today. here are some observations.
-If I drive down a grade in 1st gear and hold it at this rpm range it smokes a bunch( I have 2 miles of uphill dirt road to get to my house) the whole time. I got to the bottom and put it in drive and did a WOT acceleration and it let a huge cloud of blue smoke for a while then it cleared and went away. coming back up my road in first and 2200rpm runs great and no smoke.
-I was thinking maybe an injector was crap so I unplugged one at a time and revved it to the rpm range that produces the problem. the smoke would clear when I unplugged an injector but it would clear up with all four unplugged one at a time so each injector gave equal results.
If it were oil burning it seems like it would smoke regardless if one injector was unplugged. I don't know if this tells anyone anything but an interesting observation that makes me believe it is not an oil consumption problem.

Greendieselengineering,
A gde eco tune is next on my list to get for the jeep but I wanted to fix this problem before I go through with it so I could fully see the results without anything else influencing the outcome. Your saying that this may not be a problem at all and could possibly be the way the computer is tuned? That would be absolutely great if that is the case. I will give you a call when I have my next day off and go over this. thanks for the support

hey I noticed in your signature that you are running stock size tires but in 10 ply rating. I need some tires but don't want to leave the stock size, all the all terrain options are LT tires and E rated and only hiway tread is available in the passenger rated 225/75-16. How do they ride? I am hesitant because I don't want it to ride like my 3/4 ton truck. what is your experience with the 10 ply on these jeeps

Also how is that dodge fuel pump treating you? seems that there is a lot of controversy of if they are bad for the injection pump or not

Thanks

Humbug,
This should be posted for others too.
Have the OME springs, a little too tall but the springs are awesome, tried the bigger tires, too top heavy. Lift no more than one inch, the big tires are unnecessary, will be as designed, not carpool mama proof. 10 plys are for heavy towing and have had too many flats. using Mastercraft now, liked better than Michelin, air pressure gives ride, 50 lbs towing, 40 around town.
The jeep was designed for fuel pump, with wire under drivers side passenger carpet, your option.
Reread your earlier post, be aware that the plumbing can take a good while to clear.

Do you feel the 10 ply rated tires made the ride very much more bumpy or rough? the last two miles of the road to my house is really nasty and we are always getting flats on our car. I know e rated tires have thicker tread than the passanger but if they made it so we could feel every pebble in the road I don't think it would work out very good either.

For what it's worth, I just changed from 225/75R16 Wrangler street tires to 245/70R16 BFG AT's, and the ride is just fine- much better, in fact. No discernible road noise, and no clearance or rubbing issues (stock and unlifted).
