HAHA, I know... just trust me, it's fixed. I took a few pictures tonight all from the same side.

Ummm... long story short.

I had the rims mounted at a local tire shop and they didn't torque the wheel down properly. The wheel came off on the highway, I was doing 100Khm/60Mph.

The shop paid the bill for the damages, and rental car.

I'm very thankful that the tire didn't hit anyone else, especially oncoming traffic on the other side of the median. Angels were looking out for me and everyone else around my vehicle that day.

I had 16 out of 20 lug nuts loose after buyng tires and wheels from Tire Kingdom. I got home and checked the nuts because the Jeep was shaking so bad. I was lucky. I think it happens alot.

Glad ure OK. Love that squared off rotor!

Once had the rear wheels come off an RV that we were towing 2 motorcycles on a trailer to Florida with. RV hit the ground on the rotor and went sideways. I was sleeping while a friend was driving. Woke up as we were skewing sideways. Kinda dissorientered so as everything's bouncing around and he's trying to get control, I yell "What's going on?" He yells "The wheels tore off... Look" So I look out the windshield and see 2 big wheels bouncin around on the highway in front of us!! Of course it happened on a Fri night on a holiday weekend and we spent the next 2 days sitting on the shoulder as trucks passed by within inches of the back end which was sticking out. (after we fished the wheels out of the drainage ditch they landed in after breaking through the ice covered runoff water) Cops were real helpful. Came by and gave us a half case of flares and told us to put one out every 1/2 hour. Couldn't even get a tow. Had to ride on of the single seater unregistered race bikes to BWI airport and rent a car to go to an RV shop and buy a new rotor and lug bolts to do the repair ourselves. Problem was, my friend was 17 and I was 19 and only had a motorcycle license. Luckily the car rental people didn't realize this.

Oh, we also ran out of gas because it was March and we had to keep the engine running to stay warm. Didn't realize the angle the RV was at meant we couldn't suck gas from the fuel tank properly. So the indicator read like 2/3 but the engine couldn't get any fuel. SO, we ran the heater off the battery and then killed that. Bought a new one at sears with the rental car, got the RV going, charged the battery then returned the new one. Oh, we also gt a ticket in the rental car for crossing the median as there was no exit close to where the RV broke down. That was just the start of our vacation. :!:

Found out the whole thing happened because my friend the, um hum, master mechanic, had done brakes before we left and hadn't changed the lug studs like the manual recommended nor used a torque wrench n the lug nuts.

Uh, sorry about that going on so long........
