Started to install my new rear tray, and I have run into a couple issues.

'05 CRD

Following the instructions I punched a hole through the plastic, and using a 25/64" drill opened the top of the two existing holes open. Installed the rivnut, and mounted the bracket. Both front brackets mounted to the rear seat latching loops.

I can only get the front screws to line up at the max of their adjustment, and the rears are a good 1/4" off.

Instructions say to locate the All J logos to the rear, but mine didn't come with any logos on it. Are all four bolts evenly spaced, if not do the narrow ones go to the front or rear?

I also noticed that the whole rack sits a few degrees out of true with the bottom of the rear window glass, the rack slopes to the rear in relation to the rear glass edge. Is this normal? How far off the floor should the rear brackets be?

I drilled one hole in my rack. It appears to sit level but I can check it out for you.

What needs answered? SHould I check it with a level or do you wanna see the holes I had to drill? I feel the hole I drilled was because I was not careful enough on the rear passenger side bracket installation.

Mostly curious if either of you thought it was an install issue or product issue. Picks would be nice of what the actual installed brackets etc. look like since they just show the installed rack on their site.

Well, I looked closer, and the hole(s) I drilled are no longer needed. I can't quite remember but one of the brackets had two slotted holes and IIRC I was using the wrong one at first, but now it all lines up and sits level even though I am slightly off on the rear passenger side bracket. I am QUITE happy with the build quality

Overall:

Driver's side, you can see where it rests on the molded plastic to bear some weight:

Passenger side, notice the lack of the extra support. This side the nutzert actually stripped out slightly, so I should redrill and brace it before I add any real weight to the shelf.

Great thanks for the extra info/pics. They say you can still use the privacy cover underneath, but it looks like it would be pretty close. Not that you really need it with the shelf anyway. Is it just 4 wing nuts to get it out? Wonder if 1/4 turn dzus fasteners would work? It would be nice if it removes very easily for the added height.

I have to torque the wing nuts a lot because the brackets and such are not perfectly level. They wouldn't sit flush with out tightening them a lot.

I see, final question, whats the vertical measurement from the carpet to the bottom of the tray?

I'll Check, but if you need more space you can add spacers and longer bolts.

All J is checking the specs on the new brackets they just received from their fab shop to make sure they are of proper spec. It could be that my body's holes are slightly lower than their test vehicle... who knows.

Will keep all informed as this progresses.
