Painted my D-rings yellow for my recovery system. Whatever floats your boat, go for it. Just remember though if you do use them it will eventually rub off.

I've been painting mine red for so many years that I feel that Jeep copied my look.
I use duplicolor engine enamel in Chevy Orange

Painted my d rings orange. Didn't last the winter. Used em to pull a guy out of the snow and tore all the pain off. Don't bother painting them or pray u never have to use them

Back in the 70s I kept mine painted red thinking they'd be easier to see if I dropped one while out somewhere. But like mentioned they get scratched up etc if used. Now I paint them once and the heck with them

That's actually a very good reason to paint them. Can't imagine trying to look for some black ones laying around.

One thing that might sway someone either way is the ability to remove them. I have Atthehelm's recovery system so I have D-rings that can easily be removed vs the stock tow hooks that might be a different story.

They're not just painted, they're covered in a bedliner like material.

i feel like keeping them painted helps keep them from rusting. Especially if you live up in the NE where theres salt everywhere.
