So I'm new to the jeep world and new to your site so I want your honest opinion. I was looking around at all the lifts available for the KJ and I'm not very impressed. For such a cool little vehicle i thought it would have a whole lot more options. A bit about my jeep. Its an all stock 2002 Jeep Liberty. Wifey blew up the last engine a year ago, and it was sitting around getting ready to be chucked. problem was the car is in great shape for its age. Interior is very clean and the exterior is very straight. So we dropped in a very nice rebuilt engine. And now it only has about 3k miles on the new engine.

So Finally the wifey decided she wanted the new 2012 Focus and not the jeep anymore and gave it to me and also said i can do whatever i want as long as its street legal. It will continue to be my daily driver to work, which is 2 miles from home.

So heres the idea. LIFT!!!! must have a good top quality lift.
So i saw the Frankenlift, and the sky jacker lifts, and OME and Lifts by Al all only lift me 2.5" with a max tire of a 30-31. but then i found this.....

Its a bit pricey but no more expensive than me going out and buying a JK and then buying all the same doo doo for the same total price. SO people please look over it and tell me your honest to god opinions.

I'm confused. You want to know about lifts, now your talking about an SFA conversion? Which one are you doing first?

The SFA conversion is also a lift.

Austerity....take a look at the link I provided and you will see. It is pretty impressive from what I've read and researched. Just pricey, but no more expensive than buying a used jk and modding it.

The standard 2 1/2" lifts are easy one weekend jobs (or 3 hours for TJ or TomMudd)

The SFA conversion is a major suspension rebuild - expect a week or more of garage time and work

As for the build up ya i understand its a week or more of shop time for the SFA upgrade. ANd ya the downside is that i have to find or buy axles, but What I'm wondering is if you all think the SFA conversion is a good one. I want to know what you guys have heard or experienced.

Well I have the prototype of that SFA and now have 20,000 miles on it without any issues.Driven all over the place also,from KY to MOAB and of course wheeled it.It's also my daily driver.


Granted I did go with higher end parts for the axles and t-case.

Ya, i just want to make sure its a great quality set up, and if its actually worth all the money i would be putting into the car.

That and i want to make sure all the rumors I've heard about Rock Lizard are not true and i can buy my kit and have it within a month or so and not a year.

What part of the country do you live in? I went to RL shop and rode in one of the vehicles with the SFA kit. Top notch for sure! It was a little big for my personal taste, even though it grows on me the more I see TJs jeep in action on here!

It is worth every penny you spend on it considering you won't find another kit you could do yourself in your front yard if you wanted to. Plus you have to look at what you are getting for that 10K price tag. I mean if you want to still use your jeep as a daily driver with the least amount of down time for and SFA no other way to go. I have seen a few other SFAs done and most take months to just find parts then months more to make them all work together. This is a tested and proven system Troys jeep speaks volumes for it and it was built in a drive way so steep that you had to park a windstar minivan in the street because it would bottom out.

If my KJ hadn't been totaled last year, I would be in the process of installing a Godzilla kit right now! I and a couple friends have bought stuff from RL before. Didn't come right away but didn't take longer than expected. Quality is always top notch.

If I would have got the diesel than this is something I would consider. As much as I want it, I think I drive too far of distances for something like this. With your work being 2 miles from the house and if you don't road trip your KJ this would be awesome.

TJKJ is a daily driver and drove from Colorado to Kentucy wheeled all weekend in that thick black mud and rocks then drove home without and issue. I think he even gets better mileage with his set up then a lifted gasser.

Some,I can get 17-18mpg's on the highway at 70mph(3000rpm's) but get about 9mpg's in town.Granted I live at 6200' and seems like your going uphill all the time and I drive my KJ like I stole it.It's sees the rev limiter more in one day then most on this board will ever see in there lifetime.

Ah the rev limiter... I know a 4 liter's well..Does a 3.7L sound whinny when it hits it? I didn't know an auto lets you hit rev limiter..

Doesn't sound bad but I have a MagnaFlow Ultra Race muffler also,and yes the auto trans will hit the 5600rpm rev limiter just fine,granted more so for 1st gear and if you really push it 2nd gear also.

Yes, it whines when you hit the limit! Not sure if it sounds the same but, it's noticeable. I hit it a lot when I ran mud bogs, several years ago.
