Best I can explain it would be that I want a look similiar to the Lib that Musclezmarinara has for an avatar.

Did Musclez have to re-gear?

Keeping in mind that I have 18" rims on it still, what would you recommend? To be absolutely honest, I drive the truck a fair bit for work purposes, mostly on the highway and in the city. I do alot of downhill skiing, camping, mountain-biking so there is a purpose other than "to the Mall and Church on Sundays".

It has been difficult to determine what route I should go based on priority and funds available. I suppose the #1 priority at the moment is getting new tires and I am looking to stay as close as possible to my $2500 budget. I held out on buying winter tires this year knowing that I would be needing new tires in the Spring/Summer. That time is here. I had a flat tire beyond repair last week so I am down a spare, with one tire that I actually thought was the worst still on the truck. The tires I definately know I don't wanna buy twice.

In order to fit the tires I want (currently considering 255/65/R18 BFG A/t's), I need to lift the truck. Something agressive, but would do ok on the highway, and winter-rated. I am not shy about do a "small" amount of cutting, and am prepared to buy new shocks. I actually had asked about getting them replaced at the tire shop, but although my Lib is a 2008, I bought it last year with only 22,000km on it  They said it may not be necessary yet. I will definately clarify with them in regards to bumpstops.

...any wise words O'mighty tommudd? Appreciate the help and the ...seriousness.

He might respond here, but I'll answer. Musclez did not regear. We talk often and his gas mileage is pretty horrific probably because of the tires.

I'm regearing this week and I expect my mileage and performance to increase. Also getting a pair of Tru-Tracs installed so the performance should be MUCH better.

Even though your reply was quite snarky, people are still trying to stop you from making an expensive mistake. I don't know how the support could be better. It seems that you've already made up your mind to use Revteck. Nobody on here is going to lie to you just to make you feel better about it. The tires you are considering are 31.05x10.04 which is roughly the same as a 31x10.5 tire. You probably could run them but not with the stock springs, at least not for long and definatley not at the stock height. The stock springs are crap, I've watched a KK like mine where I work sag about an inch the first year and it seems to have sagged more but I haven't measured it for awhile now. I don't think anyone's mentioned the upper control arms. With a 2" spacer in the front, they'll be in almost constant contact with the springs. I don't know if you realize it but the bumpstops you have now get a real workout because the springs are so squishy (a compromise for a better "ride" for the crowd that will never take it off road) Without longer bumpstops, you're front shocks will bottom out a lot, even with them mine bottomed out sometimes, with the spacer lift, not now.
You've been given more information about your Jeep than you'll be able to find anywhere else. How you choose to use it is completely up to you. Bottom line is, it's your money and your vehicle.
And that's Reverend Mudd  , he's been trying different ways to make Libertys more capable since they replaced the Cherokee. It would be wise to listen to him, he's pretty good at it.
I hope that you have better results than the dozens of people before you who have tried spacers on stock suspension only to do it right later. :JEEPIN:

With a $2500 budget you can do the whole spring/shock lift, get 3-3.5" of lift, and get aggressive tires that fit. I don't understand why you want to go with a spacer lift at that point.

If you want a KK like musclez, check out his build thread. Even he got rid of a spacer lift for the full suspension lift and doesn't regret it.

Also gageraid, idk if it's from him not regearing, or if its all the mods he has on his roof. I hear roof racks kill your mileage. Could also be his driving, I've never seen his driving so I can't say for sure.

tommudd, ...no offence or attitude was intended. Nor was I trying to say he knew more than you or anybody else that posts on this forum. My bad. Like I said, I appreciate your (and everybody elses) help. I am certainly at a point where I am re-evaluating my options. Although a little reluctant, I will likely spend extra money to have as much of it done properly the first time.

That having been said...

I would be totally into attempting the installation of everything myself, but I lack space to do the work, probably lack some of the tools needed, and most importantly not sure I have the time. I have shopped around a bit locally and most places seemed as though lifting a KK was absolutely alien to them, and eventually just started throwing numbers around to try and get my business.

After having crossed paths, and eventually participating in the odd Jeep crawl with him, the "tire guy" I am going with, reconized my interest in lifting my Liberty and has tried to be helpful with accomplishing the goal I have. Besides, he doesn't want to be the one getting me unstuck everytime I try to follow him somewhere. He has also remained completely upfront about not having personally lifted a KK, but is clearly excited and eager to learn from a mechanic at his shop that has though. He is also giving me a better price on the tires than anybody else offered without having to ask for a price match. I am not feeling obligated to buy it from him, just want to support somebody that I have gotten to know a little.

-------

So far I think I will get the tires as planned. Definately want the JBA A-arms so I am debating Tommudd's econo lift (seems like the best value), or SkyJacker? Just have to look into getting them in or sent to Canada. Getting all of this definately means I will be sticking with the 18" rims though.

What should I know about a "re-gear", sounds like this will be a must. Costly?

Yup, gonna run me about $2500 with Detroit Tru-Tracs front and rear. One thing to keep in mind while shopping for gears, the KK uses the same gears in the front as the JK. You will find that almost all of the parts people will try to sell you a set for a KJ and they aren't even close to the same.
If you can swing the cash, the JBA 4" is probably the best lift for the KK. OME, Ironman and JBA are the only ones worth messing with.
