the kk and kj mounts are actually different, the kj's are taller and thicker. the KK are shorter and wider in the rubber portion.

Tom i am shocked with the way you act sometimes. i have been on many other large car/truck forums and none of the mods act as you do. sometimes you seem nice, other times you just seem to be flat out rude.

anyway i went to my cal dealer and purchased new oem strut mounts. now that i have them side by side, there are major differences in in the size of the rubber center. OEM is def the way to go for KK's. due to their height i see the oem would just fit and work better with the HD springs which are really hard to compress as you tighten the strut nut. when i get back from vacation i will try to install this lift again.

You should buy some earplugs just in case the jeep makes any squeaks or bumps this time!

woah man...I've been reading all your posts and everyone on here has been more than helpful, especially Tom. Every time they offer their help or ideas you throw it back in their face saying that's not what it is and then post another idea you're trying. A lot of people have most likely had your problem and have figured out a way to fix it and are just trying to help you but you make it seem like you're better than everyone and don't need our help. If you don't like how this forum is ran there are plenty of others you can join.

I have never thrown anything back in anyone's face, if it came off that way then i am sorry, but everytime someone had idea, it was something i had already checked, maybe thats why you think i shot them down. Noone said well make sure you have the correct strut mounts cause everyone says they are the same, when in fact they are very different, i had discovered that on my own. the PN stamped on the moog unit its actualy the oem PN for a 02+ not an 08+.

everytime i use the search function to look at old posts theres usually one of thom not actin like other MODs have on previous forums, that all i pointed out. just not something a 58 year old should act like, I could never imagine my father (Who's 59) being that way on one of his mercedes forums to other people. Tom has offered up very usefull info to me that has worked. i was just saying it wouldnt hurt to be a bit nicer thats all.

i think i may have an issue compressing the springs, the shop used one mounted on the wall. i just bought a set of ones that clamp on the springs to compress them from harbor freight, is that what you guys used? maybe paying a shop to put on the new strut mounts might be a better idea.

From what I know the only difference between the portable springs and the wall mounted ones are the wall mounted ones are a lot safer to use. And I can imagine they would be a lot easier as well.

DO NOT USE THOSE HF POS SPRING COMPRESSORS!!
I have used the Powerbuilt ones a couple times on 927s but probably won't do it again.

It is highly recommended that you have a reliable shop assemble them for you.

Unless you are physically incapable of doing it, you should try installing the lift yourself. It really isn't hard if you have the spring/shock assembly ready to go. Even if you have to buy the few tools needed which isn't much.

yea, in an attempt to save some cash, a friend and I will tackle it this time and i will have a shop re-align it. I have used the HF spring compressors in the past to lower cars, and they worked great but I along with you agree i think these HD springs might be way to stiff to trust these compressors.

I've heard horror stories about people taking their jaws clean off with those things.

Lots of difference in a 250-275 lb spring and a 400 lb
And sorry I don't drive a Mercedes :ROTFL:

hahaha Tom I love you man. And you guys worry too much. I haven't used the harbor freight ones but the autozone rentals did the trick for my springs even if it still is a pain in the booty. By the way crippled, are you going to get new a arms now that you sold me yours? You should, they are amazing

yea ill buy new a-arms. just wish it didnt take this long to figure out i had the wrong strut mounts. I think if JBA assembled them correct with the proper washer under the strut nut i bet it would not have made so much noise. oh well, you lie and learn.

so im pretty sure its the strut mounts as my issue, here are the 2010+ mounts. also the parts counter guy said the 2010+ springs and struts/shocks are stiffer than the previous years and thats what makes then "tuned" he said there 15% stiffer. he said he will fax me a data sheet. but here are the pics of the 2010+ mount. he said the techs claim they are worlds better than the previous versions.
