my new wheels arrived
will be installing my km2's tomorrow. but I am not installing sensors on them since I want to keep two sets of tires my regular street wheel and tires and the mts for of roading
my question is. can I run wheels with out the tire sensors?
don't mind to have the low pressure light on. just want to make sure they don't affect the computer of the limit the engine performance. like other cars that don't let you drive. at more than 30 mph once the light is on.

thank you

and can't wait to install the new wheels and tires

The first thing that comes to my mind is that if you were in a bad accident, and your vehicle was inspected/investigated the insurance company might not cover it. A lot of times they want a reason not to pay.

Buy 4 new sensors, they are not that expansive, plus knowing your tire pressure when you are offroading is usefull...

You can't remove your sensors from your stock wheels without damaging them as far as I know, maybe im wrong :?

The sensor is attached to the valve stem with a small screw, at least mine are.

They do not "tell " you the pressure. Only if pressure is lower then a set point. Airing down for off road could be below this point. The MOPAR are not cheap but some aftermarket ones are.

I have a second set of rims and tires without TPMS for winter. I learned that it takes about 15 miles for the light to come on. They can be reset by parking next to another vehicle with the same code. Mine reset every night because TPMS was in pole barn too.
According to Jeep tech, the batteries are only rated 5 years . I will buy a replacement set when current set dies.
Insurance would be a reason to keep.

I run without sensors on my '11 Limited model and the only warning I get is a single "chime" sound when I first start the car, no other lights or error codes. That and the EVIC obviously reads four dashes instead of a pressure if I cycle to it.

This seems inconsistant with how some other peoples behave with friends reporting that theirs not only chimes on startup but also brings up a warning light on the dash and occasionally chimes again whilst driving. Not sure if there is just some slight software differences between years / models.

Didn't know that parking beside another Liberty could reset it :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

That's because you have sport version, on Limited you can see the PSI of each tire on the dashboard.

And yes, if you deflate your tires they might be below the point where the light and chime comes on, but on Limited version you can still see how much PSI you have.

IMO its one of the most usefull features. This is how the dashboard looks like, every number is the PSI of each tire, I took this pic from the user's manual

I wasn't parked by a Liberty. There were many Chrysler products. So I don't know what reset it. I just had a lot of fun seeing when it would chime.
I didn't know the limited showed all four.
