Also, how do you judge if the slip joint has too much slop?

Thanks as always!

Do you mean PCN-354 or??? (Looks like Summit has replaced this with a Moog part.)

Thanks,

On further review, I think the 280 is best one to use for the KJ CRD 4WD Auto.

Can you confirm?

Thanks!

One of the worst brands.

Spicer gold sealed u-joints are the best on the market right now and have been for years as far as OE replacements go.

Begin rant: Per cherokee's maintenance schedule, every 3000 miles the chassis parts should be greased. That includes uv joints, ball joints, etc. Honestly, I had never had to replace one uv joint with this constant periodical greasing maintenance schedule. Use some white grease spray on the joints (keeps water away and doesn't wash from road water) , then regular grease over everything. End rant.

Worst my booty. Ever wonder why NAPA lost there deal with MOOG? NAPA wanted them to make them cheaper and MOOG said go kick rocks. True story do some research. Same thing with Spicer doo doo joints. Research Spicer ball joints and the plastic cup the joint rides on the inside. There doo doo.

I am confused. Are you saying Precision is made by Moog?

Try reading...............

U-joints,not ball joints.

But since you mentioned ball joints, have you seen those all those nice KJ ball joint failures and 3 recalls? Yep MOOG built ball joints to Chryslers specs.MOOG makes many lines with different quality ratings and re-badged as other brands.Only 1 line of MOOG joints are still even made in the USA and that's most of there "problem solver" line.

Oh and for my app Spicer ball joints are the best on the market, sold as Napa ball joints but made by Spicer(Spicer red labels if I remember correctly).

Greaseable is always better. And as for brand wise I have yet to have to change any of mine (knock on wood) so until that time I am of no use in this area

Sealed is better than greaseable that is not greased regularly. Greasable last longer if greased frequently.

I have found over the years that sealed are the way to go. the grease-able joints are weaker due to the drilled passages for the grease to travel in. I also discovered that with the grease-able type joints all the grease seemed to come out of 1 cap when I greased them. The key to sealed joints is grease(I used moly grease, they ship from the factory with a very light preservative in the caps)put a good amount of grease into each cap then press it in. As for brand I don't have a clue.

And why sealed joints are now standard on all new vehicles,no one wants to grease anything.

It is very true that sealed joints are far stronger then greaseable ones as far as u-joints goes, only front axle shaft u-joints is where that rule can be false when your talking about CTM's and Yukon Super joints.Sure I run greaseable u-joints on mine but 4 out of 6 of the u-joints are 1350 series which is 3/4 ton rated.
