Anyone use some kind of cargo barrier inside their liberty? I don't see anyone making a unit specific to the Liberty. Anyone home grow one?

I don't see how the cargo area is big enough to warrant one, but they are easy to make, especially if you have one to start off of.

What would you anchor to? frame with net? frame with 1/4" round rod? The available "doggie" restrains don't seem substantial enough. I don't want to get hit in the head with a box full of tools, shackles and other heavy metal.

"Ever thought how dangerous an unrestrained pet is in a moving vehicle? Did you know that a 35lb dog can become a 2700lb projectile in a 35mph crash?" This is from Gizmag.com from 2009.
"5. Jeep Liberty The Liberty offers specialized pet travel gear, including crates, carriers and a ramp. Arthritic pets will love the ramp, as will larger dogs. This gear can be used with all vehicles in the Jeep line-up. Other useful features include a split-folding rear seat and keyless entry is available."
I haven't found any of this stuff. http://www.gizmag.com/pet-safe-vehicles/12563/

Thanks, aregant! This gives me some ideas. Have you thought of a net right behind the front row?
I'm hoping that I'll be able o use this:

I hope to cut it into sections so it fits.

I used the net with my all j cargo rack to keep the whole family safe on the big trips. If I do any solo trips I think a single net behind the seats would work great. I used nutzerts to atach the anchors so you could but the net about anywhere!

Found this one on eBay.
Part No: CH82211017

Image

Spoke to a guy who fitted one and he confirms that it is anchored to the vehicle's steel structure.

Sorry, this may not fit a KJ? I've never seen a factory barrier in one of them.

Found this, not sure if it's solid enough to stop a load of tools?

Thanks, nut! Excellent! The first one is crazy expensive plus it's in the land of OZ! I searched the part number and found nothing in the US. US Chrysler/ Jeep shows nothing. WTFudge! The travall is affordable. The mounting system looks like it would be easy to replicate. Strength-wise it looks lie it would stand up to load. The frame is stopped from going forward by the seat and C pillar. The steel mesh looks to be 3/16" or 1/4". I'd say it'll stop a load especially with the heavy stuff on the bottom.
I'll make a frame of 3/4" or 1" square tubing and attach a piece of the net I have coming to it. I'll attach it to the seat latch and make a stopper against the C pillar and below the window.
As I make this, I'll keep an eye on fitment to behind the front seats so maybe I'll be able to use it in both positions.

[quote="arengant"]I copied this idea:

Image

I'm thinkin' about running a rail from front of back grab handle to front of the back grab handle. for right behind the first row. One or two eyes in the B pillar. Add some rails on both rear seat mounts and all that stays put. When I need to I install the net.
I'll see if I can do something like that behind the backseat. I don't have any rug rats so most of the time the back seats have a cooler, laptop and luggage
What do you think?
