A not-so-hypothetical question, but if someone offered you $1000 to come over on a Saturday from 8am to 6pm, detail their car, take a few pictures of it, then negotiate a sale with whoever showed up to buy it, would you accept that offer?

Because if you invested a total of ten hours in doing that for your Jeep and then got another $1000 for it, it amounts to the same thing. :)

Yeah he is right about cleaning and detail. appearance counts for a lot. Example: years ago I bought a 2003 Subaru Outback used and traded a 1990 front wheel drive Legacy with over 200,000 miles on it and busted a/c and dented front fender. The situation was I came and looked and agreed to buy the Outback with a friend and we came in his Durango. So my trade was not there to see. I was offered at least $350 unseen for the Legacy I accepted that because I figured I got my money out of it in the 5 years I drove it mostly trouble free. That weekend I had to clean all my stuff out and I ended up cleaning the whole car top to bottom shampooed the seats and carpets quick too with my hoover cleaner. when I took it to the dealer to finish the deal he said "wow that car is real nice looking and very clean... I can give you 600 for it" So for an afternoons work I nearly doubled my money.

I myself didn't really care about how "clean it was", more that it was "in one piece". I'm not driving for hours to look at a ghost vehicle. There are way to many fake sales threads and "sellers" who are just out to scam you. I'm not throwing fastRob into that lot, but if he had answered the simple questions I was ready to drive up there and buy it. I didn't care how dirty it was, I just cared that the thing still existed.

$5k is a good deal if the CRD isn't a pile of junk. If it needs a bunch of stuff then it isn't a good deal. Saying "$5k - no questions asked" is how things are done on Craigslist, I would expect that posting on this forum would result in follow up questions.
