Does anyone else's GDE Tow tune have this rpm drop under light throttle just before 40 mph? I mentioned it to Keith when I first got the tune but he led me to believe it was normal and part of the gas saving features. It almost feels like it shifts from 3rd to 5th then down shifts to 4th because it is losing RPM.

I’ve been using the Jeep Liberty CRD TCM re-tune. I noticed an issue with the trans shifting into 5th gear lock up at 35-40 mph for a brief second then up shifts back to 3rd gear. Have you encountered this issue with anyone else?

John,
I have not experienced this or heard about it yet. Are you sure it is 5th gear lockup at that speed? That would drag the engine rpm down to about 1100 rpm, which is very low. I wonder if it is the beginning of an issue with the lockup clutch?

I had the torque converter and front pump replaced by a local dealer under an extended warranty to address a shudder that occurs between 55 and 60 while in 5 gear lock-up. They put in an original TC. The 55 to 60 shudder improved a bit but was still there. This is all while ECU was programmed with the GDE Hot-tune. Then I put in the GDE TCM reprogrammed unit a couple of weeks after the TC replacement. The first thing a noticed was while under light acceleration the trans would try to shift in the 35 to 40 mph range and lug the engine down to 1000 to 1200 rpm. This event is very brief. It only occurs for a second before shifting back to a lower gear. I have taken the GDE TCM out and put my original back in for now. If you can a think of a tweak to address this issue, I can bring my TCM by for a re-flash.

The engine lugging (shudder) at 35 mph has continued after a new front pump, SunCoast TC, and transgo shift kit. Same lugging issue existed before and after the TC upgrades. It's related to something in the TCM re-tune.
At this point I'm focused on a Coolant Loss problem and have not resolved the engine lugging problem. I hope to arrange a time to let Keith experience the issue first hand and get his input.
