I own a 2005 Jeep liberty CRD with 175k miles. For the last 3 months, I have been sporadically loosing power. It started out just doing it every now and then, but now it is doing it about 70% of the time. I have had my MAF sensor unplugged for about a year now. Sometimes if I restart my engine the problem will disappear for a little while.

Here is a list of my symptoms:

*extremely slow acceleration and top speed of around 55 mph
*sometimes have hard transmission shifting when in this "spell"
*oily MAP sensor with very little carbon build up
*oily circular black "part" located just in front of oil dip stick handle. This "part" has one hose coming out of the front of it

here are my OBD II codes (and what google says they mean):

"P0107" MAP
"P1265" glow plug #3
"P1263" glow plug #2
"P1261" maybe a glow plug???
"P0102" MAF
i'm not sure what the "space P" means?
"P0107 P"
"P1265 P"
"P1263 P"
"P1261 P"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That "oily" part with the hose sounds like your intercooler hose. These are known to fail, and will certainly cause a power loss. You definitely want to look into the MAP code as well, as that may be the issue. Some folks on here have found very cheap replacement MAP sensors. As for the glow plugs, replace them. Either get the updated Mopar kit (or I can put a Bosch kit together for you MUCH cheaper), or get the drop in steel replacements.

Thanks for the input guys. It appears that it is my CCV/EHM that has become encrusted with oil and dirt. I change my own oil, and have a habit of filling to the "max" line on the dip stick. Do you think driving for 15,000 miles with the oil at the "max" line could be the root of the problem?

MRausch82, I am defiantly going to change my plugs once I'm get this problem under control. How much would I be looking at for a set of 4?

Thanks again guys... this forum is awesome

I drained 0.5 quart of oil, which got the oil to the "minimum" line. I also cleaned the MAP sensor. So far, the jeep has been running perfectly.

Thanks for the help.

Mrausch82, just sent you a PM

Early days of the CRD and it was noticed that the required 6.4 quarts of oil would only make it to the min or slightly higher mark on the dip stick. in fact my CRD was getting filled at the dealer to full on the dipstick and it ate the extra oil PDQ untill they found a service note in the star system that says the dipstick is marked wrong. the fix is drain oil well, add 6.5 quarts and scratch the dipstick, that is your new full mark and you wont be eating oil and killing your hoses.
