Hey everyone...
Short and sweet. Have an 05 KJ, Sport... looking to lift...

Do not do major offroading... do not climb boulders or plan on competition...

I'm looking for something that rides better than stock(had my baby for 4 years... rides like a Buck board), and looks good. when the kids and i go play in the mud, i want a little more clearance!

Yes I've read most discussions on here regarding lifts... yes i understand OME or Frankens are the way to go... my main question (because yes money IS a factor)...

Is there ANYONE on here who has installed a SKYJACKER 2.5 lift who can give me their honest opinion? or even a rough country or Rustys?

I'm looking at these kits... the price is right... like i said MOSTLY street driving... will these kits last?

if anyone has installed the Sky Jacker your opinion or experience would be greatly appreciated!

Skyjacker and Rustys spring rates are both the same as stock ( 310 lb ) and will sag in no time
Plus Rustys shocks do not fit well and are very cheap
Rough Country is a spacer lift and uses your stock springs so ride will be worse than what you have now ( since it compresses the already sagging springs more.
I have installed ( under objection) a Rustys full spring a few years back for a local guy and watched as it sagged back to stock height plus both rear shocks didn't last 20,000 miles
I've talked to a couple of people who bought the Skyjacker since the local 4WD shop told them they were the best. They were very upset that a KJ couldn't be lifted properly until they rode in mine

As far as not off roading much , its funny when people bring that into the mix since it seems you don't care what the onroad ride is like.
Upgrading to a full OME or Ironman spring kit will not only give you lift, a better ride and handling both on and off road plus do away with the nose diving when braking but will last several times longer than the stock springs and shocks did . I've never heard anyone say I wish I had the old suspension back on, instead its why didn't I do it before

I run a 2" 4wd Hardware/BDS lift on my 07 4x4. For the price difference, I think it's pretty hard to beat if you're not doing any serious off-roading. The ride quality is amazing over stock, and it's been 2 years and have not had any sagging at all. I've read the spring rates for the BDS kit were pretty much the same as the OME springs, but the 4wd Hdwr kit is much cheaper than going the OME route.

Not really since the BDS doesn't come with front shocks and the rears are pretty cheap
Pays to go OME or Ironman in the end

I have had a skyjacker 2.5 with rear spacers in my kj for a few years and 5100 bilsteins. Awesome combo. Sitting at the same height from when i started. At this point anything I've done to my libby is an upgrade over the rusty lift I started with back in '06.

I have Skyjacker lift on my 05, I did the struts myself. 2 strut compressors to compress stock springs,it took 4 to do the skyjackers and it was bending the bolts on the compressors. Wasnt fun, thought ride would be rough but its nice and smooth.Skyjacker springs and bumpstops in the rear with rough country shocks. Skyjacker springs, struts,and bumpstops in front. Have had no sagging.

Mine are the non-soft ride higher spring rate than OME.

Yes, the springs are red not black, I bought it from a guy who never installed it on his, he bought it in early 04 and and eventually sold his liberty. I have been a mechanic for 27 yrs. And I wasn't exaggerating about the spring compressors if i had to do it over they would have went to the shop to be put together instead of me doing them at home. I should have stated that to begin with, sorry not trying to make it look like you don't know what your talking about because you do. I read your posts all the time for guidance on the Liberty.

Yep too bad they didn't keep making those the same way. Spring rate was almost perfect for the fronts IMO.
I know what you mean about compressing them, even on the machine when I did the OME 790 CRD springs they were a bear to compress :ROTFL:
