Has anyone ever had their A/C system never shut off? Today I noticed that the A/C on the woman's Liberty was constantly running, even though the switch in the cabin was turned off. Lines were hot and cold. I could tell the compressor was loading the engine, but couldn't actually see the pulley engaging.

The A/C does cycle even when the switch is off.

You should see the front of the compressor spinning when the A/C clutch is engaged and then stop spinning when the clutch disengages....pull the A/C Relay out to definitely drop power to the clutch.

The R35 relay is your AC clutch.
1. pull that relay which should force the clutch to disengage; if not I'd bet on a stuck clutch.
2. if the clutch disengages then swap that relay with another one (try R36 which is the viscous heater clutch which you can do without for a while or forever, your choice) and see if the clutch cycles properly; if it does the R35 relay is bad.

If 1 causes the clutch to disengage and 2 does not make the clutch cycle properly then I'd bet on low freon or one of the AC pressure switches is bad. At this point I've exhausted my AC system diagnostic ability.

One more thing though - does the electric fan just behind the radiator work? If not the AC condenser may not shed heat properly and the AC may keep running trying to shed heat.

Pulled the relay and no difference. And the fan never shuts off. She just bought it so hopefully we can get the dealer to cover most of the cost. I would like to take it in this week.
