What makes you think they are too big?
Rubbing? Power loss? or ????

That's why I went with 215/85R16s.
Bigger is not always better.

All depends on the application/intended use. Mine's mostly used for city/highway predominantly (although I'm on back country dirt roads every day), the occasional trip out to the Black Hills, and wintertime in the upper Midwest. I seriously debated if I should go 245/75/16 or 235, and decided to just go with 235's.

i don't really notice a power loss or even a drop in mpg. i do get very very very slight/minor rubbing when turning hard over all the way to the left. i don't wanna go to a 1.25 spacer. are there any hubcentric that are less? maybe like a 10mm or even 5mm? i only hear the rub when i have a full jeep. when its just me and a co pilot i dont hear it not matter what i do. but they do look big and cool on the car. it doesn't look like a jeep in panties anymore!

You do not want to use those thin ones most are poorly made, they will crack and come loose, plus you would then have less threads to hold the wheel on
More than likely its rubbing somewhere that you can heat up and push out of the way

If only I could import that bumper for less than the cost of having three fabbed over here  Definitely a beautiful ride!

I'm planning on some Grabber AT2s in 255/70/16 on my stock Sport wheels, to be PlastiDipped after the tires are installed. Not really looking to regear at this time, so I am going to stick w/ a 30" tire that has some more width.

I have this exact set up and I'm about to bedliner the stock sport wheels. The upper sidewall sits about 3/8" away from the upper control arm.

Yeah, kinda....

I'm sitting on a Rockkrawler 3.5 X Factor lift. Approx. 20 1/4 front and 20 1/2 rear.

bedline the wheels
Bad idea, seen a set local here that the guy was trying to sand the crap off, was hard to balance the wheels afterwards due to not the same thickness plus it looked really bad

Am leaning towards Cooper AT3s in 245/70/16. They seem to be a decent tire for my needs.
