05 Librerty LTD CRD 47.000 km since new On opening the hood to check engine oil I noticed the auto transmision oil dipstick sticking out of the tube by about 12 inches, I thought that it was just one of those things, so I pushed it in fully and checked that nothing caould have snagged on it and it appeared secure. Since yesterday when this happened I have only driven the car about 12 km and this driving was in town ( no Highway) when I checked again today the dipstick was again sticking out of the tube by about the same amount with no apparent reason, anybody have any suggestions on the cause and possible fix. Thanks, Cn.

I think every CRD owner has this problem with the dipstick tube.
No real solution. Just try to find a way to tie it down or clamp it in place.

X2. What he said. I used one my wife's glittery rubber band hair thingy and tired it to a little bolt on the back of the engine. Lol. Hey, it works. ;)

Common problem although it usually only comes out 2-3 inches. Some crimp the dipstick tube. I used a piece of double sided velcro clamped to the tube with a worm clamp and then lopped thru the dip stick handle; problem solved.

I have 3 of these vehicles now and only 1 of them does this. My solution was pretty close to papaindigo's approach. Some say it is because the snorkel valve on the transmission gets dirty and blocked, but I have not been able to confirm that.
