Good morning,

I'm kyle and im new to the forum. I've been an owner of a 2012 Black Liberty Jet Edition since May '12. After coming from a 06 wrangler its been quite a rough transition. I was looking to get into a '12 '13 4 door but decided to hold off hoping that in the coming years that jeep will produce a diesel wrangler. Anyway, i am really big into surf fishing and would like to be able to drive my jeep out on Island Beach State Park during the fall & spring striped bass runs. So since im going to be keeping the jeep i think its time to start modding accordingly.

Does anyone have any experience with the Jet wheels driving on sand? or should i try to sell the rims and get new wheels and tires?

Ive been researching on various things such as lifts, bumpers, roof racks, etc. and im going to continue to do so.

But i was hoping that you guys might be able to help me out a little bit and start putting together a nice build list with me.

Thanks

Kyle

If you read through you'll find for instance the lift there are only a few ways to go. Well there are more but they are cheap and will not last as long nor give you the ride/handling etc
Racks, all depends on how you are going to use it
The wheels and tires, personally I'd ditch them and find some 16 inch so you could air down and have some extra tread for traversing the sand .
Start reading and happy fishing

I second Tom on the wheels. 16's give you WAY more options on tires plus allow for air down in the sand.

Welcome! I'm guessing you're from Jersey?

Remove the front airdam. FREE!

Go full Old Man Emu lift. (Springs and shocks) ~$750.

16 inch rims make more sense if you ask me.

Happy fishing! We might need to schedule a Lost surf fishing event.

I moved from the Jet wheels to 16's and I'm beyond pleased that I did. I've had to air down 2-3 times and you wouldn't be able to do that (or at least comfortably) with the bigger wheels. Look at some steel wheels, under $100 per wheel.

Plus you actually get to have tire choices and that's what won it over for me

You could go with 16" wheels but look for something other than the stockers and look for a little less backspace. I prefer 15" x 7" w/3 3/4" backspace. The little cap in the center of the stockers leaks water and brine in and the shape of the rims doesn't let it out. In a short time the threads on your axles will be very rusty. 31" tires and 4.10 gears will yield incredible results. Add lockers or something and all the better.

So far OME (Old Man Emu) springs and shocks ride the best for the KK's.

There's a ton of information that you can find on the site by searching. I think my backspacing is 4" which is perfect. Google black wheels. And OME rides great and so does JBA. Just different price points.

Best ride= JeepinByAl ajustable coilover
then a toss up between OME or Ironman
any aftermarket steel wheel 16X7 4 inches of back spacing then 245-75-16s
getting into 15 inch then the wheel / tire has to sit out more will other issues
