I have a 05 liberty crd and has an intermitent miss on #2 cylinder at idle and low power settings. At idle when it misses I can pull the connector off the injector and no change. I know these injectors fire on two voltages. Im thinking its the injector but would like to verify before spending $500. I have use of a Snap-on Verdict, but am not familiar enough with it to isolate this skip. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My red crd had a misfire on cyl #1. I swapped injectors and it still had a misfire on #1. It turned out to be broken rockers on that cylinder.

So my advice: swap inj #1 with inj #2 and see if the problem follows the injector. If it follows, then replace the injector. If it doesn't, then it could be a wiring issue or rockers or ?

Correct, I agree with Jay. I'd also try something first. I had an issue with the orange rubber seal that's inside the wiring plug. Mine worked fine and out of the blue, it started to misfire. Turned out that orange seal got swollen up and pushed the wiring plug out after a while. I removed it and works perfectly now. Not sure if your issue is same, but it's worth a try.

If after swapping injectors you have same #2 misfire, more likely it's a wiring issue, you'll have to test continuity couple inches from the plug and at the plug to make sure it's not messed up.

I recently had a misfire at idle on #4. The misfire would go away at about 1500 RPM. Turned out to be a leaky copper seal washer. This also fixed the stinky exhaust smell I had at every stop light.

If it is not a wiring issue, then it could be a bad coil in the injector itself. Injectors do have a finite life. You can check the resistance across the poles in the injector. If it is too high, then the coil is bad. I had this happen on my Cummins recently. Check FSM for procedure.
