ok,

I have done a couple KJ water pumps already from watching Youtube videos. Each video states to drain coolant by removing lower radiator hose.

two weekends ago I did two KJ radiator installs and drained from the drain on the driver side.

Why do you not drain from the driver side drain for a water pump? or can you and Youtube is missing this?

Going to be doing another KJ water pump today

You can drain from the petcock, but most times there is still some left in the bottom hose so some just drain from there petcock and then lower hose , since I always swap out the thermostat as well

Petcock is neater but kind of a pain to get to (IF you're made yourself a tool to turn it properly). Hose is faster and more complete, but makes a bit more of a mess (potentially). Your results will ultimately be very similar.

thanks for the tip. This one went as smooth as the others but a lot cleaner lol.

a 17mm open end wrench turned the drain on all three radiators I worked on last week.

:?: Help with replacing the thermo. Once you drop the bottom hose is there anything else to do? How have you removed the thermo housing? From below?
Any pictures or tech advice here will be better than the manual which can be confusing sometimes.
Thanks :?:
