Obviously I'm new here. My 2005 crd has a code u0146. I know what that is and have spent some considerable time trying to track down why it's there. There is also another issue that I thought might have been related to this problem but now I have doubts. That issue is that the overdrive is not working and the switch on the shifter that you would use to turn off the overdrive appears to be inop. as well. I found 2 wires that are not cut thru but are damaged and I believe that these wires would be a good place to start on this problem. I will clean the map sensor ASAP and see if that helps to clear the code. As for the wires both of them are under the drivers side next to and running along the trams. One is yellow and red and the other is solid blue or green. Thanks for your time.
As far as the wires they both are under the drivers side very close to where the trans
And the engine join together. One is yellow and red and the other is blue or green but solid in color.

The engine computer has lost communication with the gateway computer. The gateway computer is the "operator" that controls all communication between the computers on the vehicle.

Your hunch of wires with a bad connection, maybe the area where you should concentrate your efforts.

Ok I will get on that as soon as I can. Off on business at the moment. Thanks for your comment. Do you think the 2 problems might be related??

I do ...... it would be the first logical variable to sort out. Start by eliminating the most obvious easy things.

I just wanted to post a thank you to all of those members that helped me to find a solution to this long an very perplexing problem. As it turns out the wire pinching problem with the 2 wires at the back of the engine were in fact the root cause of the code I was getting. I think the most difficult issue in the end was not in repairing those wires but it was more an issue of trusting the replacement fuse (20a) under the hood directly in front of the battery. The fuse that was in the car did not test to be faulty but must have had an issue with the connection. I purchased a replacement just to be sure and it did not solve the problem so I began to peruse other reasons for the cause of the persistent code. Believe me I tested and checked every inch of the components involved and the testing brought me back to the fuse for the tcm again and when I removed it and tested it I found no continuity so I pulled the fuse from the fuel preheater and plugged it into the tcm cleared the codes and it is running and driving like a champ. Thank you very much for your comments and your help.

We CRD owners are a different breed of people that like to help.

Great news, now you can enjoy driving the little beast again.

A lesson for all: You cannot always look at a fuse and tell it is bad! Only a test light test while plugged in with power on and checking for power on both sides of the fuse will tell the truth.
Another test is using a ohm meter if you have one and testing for continuity with the fuse out.
I have run into this several times and the first question I always ask is: have you tested all your fuses... :?:

Keep on Jeepin... :JEEPIN:
