I found the holiday circular in-store that lists it. It is on the back page, the graphic shows Valvoline (IIRC) and Mobil Delvac 1300... BUT the TEXT says it also includes "Mobil ONE Truck Diesel"

This wording could be a point of concern, but you can point out that ONLY the synthetic products are known as Mobil ONE. It does come up with the discount in the computer, sometimes they have to hit the subtotal button (my purchase today of 2 more gallons didn't show until he hit subtotal) and then it comes up as price minus discount equals total.

Since I had their $20 reward show on my card since the last purchase, I got 2 gallons of Mobil one TDT for $7 and change! Can't beat that!

I talked to two salespersons on the phone at my local store and both told me the oil was not on sale and they had not heard of any such sale. I finely rode to the store Sunday evening and showed them their own sale flyer, which they had a whole stack of in their store, and pointed out the sale price on the Mobil 1 TDT oil and they were amazed. I cleaned their shelf out of six gallons and the salesperson just kept saying how amazed he was at the price. He even pointed out the applied discount on the register was way more than the cost of the oil. Their listed price on the shelf was 29.99 per gallon...

Bottom line: most of the employee's have no knowledge of the sale price!!!! :dizzy:

I was wondering if maybe they didn't mean to discount the Mobil1.

Bought myself another 6 so i have 8 now. The store had another 3 but I felt bad taking it all

Cleaned out the store next to my work and then the one next to my house. Both had these clearly listed on sale. Got 6 in total!

2 Autozones - 6 gallons of TDT 5-40 $78 + tax (coupon didn't work)

as to calling around - good luck with that

1st Autozone the sign was under Delvac - but it says Mobil truck oil - so I grabbed a TDT took it up front and asked if it was on sale - Employee 1 - No it's only the Delvac, Employee #2 working with another customer smiles and said - 'scan it and see'
Employee 1 scans it - and it's 12.99 not 29.99 Employee #2 says - yeah it's an internet thing it's not on the weekly flier.

2nd Autozone the sign is under a stand alone Delvac display - but I grapped a TDT took it to the front and said - 'The Internet says this is on sale' she scanned it 12.99

I'd say Autozone communication to thier employees is somewhat lacking - however the computer knows......

Went to my local and they are sold out. She called the next nearest cuz it showed they had 14. They do have 14 but a guy paid for them and 16 more. Ha

I'm gonna try the price match at walmart tonight

Update

I tried Walmart price match and they didn't allow it. Ad says "Mobil 1 diesel truck" and the actual oil says "turbo diesel truck"

Cleaned out all stores in my town tonight. :-)r

Went back to Autozone to see if they had restocked after I cleaned them out Sunday of 6 Gallons. They had not.

Got one of their sale papers to take to their competitors to see if they would price match.
Local Orileys price matched, got all 5 gallons they had in stock, no trouble.
Advance price matched, got all 4 gallons they had in stock, no trouble.
Went to Walmart, they gave me a hard time trying to say it was not the same Oil. :evil:

Called a manager in and they finely gave in, got all 3 gallons they had in stock. :ROTFL:

I now have 18 Gallons in stock. Think I got enough to last me for a very long time.... :BANANA:

This is a super deal for those that can pull it off, thats a 58% price reduction, we may never see this again... :ALONE:

Went to Bellingham WA Store and they had no idea about the sale and when i asked to run it for price check it still came up @ 30 bucks and when i insisted that there was a sale and i need to buy one the guy rang the sale in to reflect the discount. They had 6 in stock but instead of cleaning them out i took one jug and headed to wally world and got them to price match for 3 more they were not happy to do it but when i produced invoice and they called autozone to verify stock they had to do it.
Thanks for the lead and word to wise do no clean out local stores but head to competitors and get price match.Njoy :JEEPIN:

Woohoo. Was able to get 11 gallons. Found 3 at a neighboring autozone. Then I price matched 8 gallons at wal-Mart. They were not happy, I had to show them my auto zone receipt and the actual 3 gallons to prove it was the same

I bought 2 at local AZ. Then two more at next AZ, then 1 at Walmart (showed them the receipt from AZ). Then went to the next WM and picked up 5 gallon. Tried to price match at Advance, but they said NO! So I have 10 gallon so far. With 3 CRD's, I'm going to try to get some more.

One of the Walmarts had a jug on the shelf that had been opened and the seal was broke. Oil looked used. I showed it the the manager and he disposed of it. So be careful!!!!!

That is about 6 oil changes and 30000 miles at 5000 mile intervals.

The problem I see with this is its 15w40 oil. Is it a good idea to run this oil in a vehicle recommended for 0w or 5w? 15w seems a little heavy ...

The one we are all talking about is Mobile 1 5w-40 so that's the one we are buying. Some guy's do run 15-40 in the summer.

The only one on sale at Autozone is Mobile 1 5w40 Turbo Truck Diesel Oil!

I have never seen Mobile 1 Turbo Truck Diesel Oil in any higher weights; I wish Mobile did make a 15w40 full synthetic Diesel Oil, I would buy it for summer use.... :banghead:

Summer? The WINTER spec doesn't matter AT ALL once it is above freezing! 0W-40 / 5W-40 / 15W-40.... ARE ALL THE SAME! 40 weight!

Yes, there are friction modifiers in the oil to make it a multiweight oil, but above freezing, they are all the same weight. Run the best oil you can, and don't overthink it.

Mobil 1 TDT or Rotella T6. I've used them both in my CRD or my TDI, and bought them strictly based on when I needed it or who had it on sale at the time. Since TDT is on such a blowout right now, I'm up to 11 gallons that I plan to use in my TDI for quite some time.

Considering that I did an oil change about 4 weeks ago, and I'm actually OVERDUE for another change right now (almost 6k miles in 3 weeks!) I don't know how long it will last.

Some people fill their TDI once or twice a month... Lately, I've been filling the tank about every 36 HOURS or less! :shock:
