I just replaced my cv intermediate drive shaft and now it's leaking.it looks as though it's not even in the differential housing anymore. HELP!!!

Where is it leaking from?
Also what do you mean its not even in there any more, no way for it to come out if you have the proper length CV on that side

It is leaking where the cv connects to the housing
right here...

Looks like the seal. As long as you put snap rings on both ends of the shafts(last shafts I did for a Dakota did not come with them and the dealer tried to say it only took one snap ring), it shouldn't back out.

Yes.snap rings were on and it is not bidding but leaking. So how do I fix?

pull it out and replace the axle seal, and yes that seal is a pain in the arse to remove because it is recessed in the axle housing tube somewhat. Then be as careful as possible during install to not tear up the seal with the intermediate shaft. Lube the seal and the shaft.

OK, I use a synthetic 90/140, but you could use 75/90. The fill hole on the front diff is located mid way up on the cover, square head, uses a 3/8th driver. Unbolt your engine skid plate for easy access. I am assuming you need to change the fluid? If so remove the fill hole first, then the drain hole. Drain hole is located on the bottom housing near the cover and uses an allen head I believe. So did you change the seal? REALLY recommend you get a shop manual.

Oh I knew how to change fluid...just making sure nothing extra for the seal. Sadly I have not had time to replace the seal. I truly don't think there is one on it at all right now for after hitting bumps I get a rattle and it had to be bc of no seal.
