Well, glad to see KBB finally come online. Their trade in values are actually very generous when you compare them to NADA. I've had dealers locally offer me $15K trade on mine. That's some major depreciation in just 12 months. Ouch.

Man my local dealer gave $16,000 for our 42 month old '02 VW Jetta TDI with 54,000 miles, the nearest VW dealer is 160 miles form here by the way.

Also, I have a local toyota dealer that has an online setup for getting your black book value. Guess what... The difference between the kbb.com trade-in value and the black book value that dealers actually use is a $4500 difference! Yep, that $4500 undeclared rebate for left over 2005 models has screwed all of us 2005 owners for trade-in value.

I've never found anyone that uses KBB. Values are much higher than realworld on any vehicle. You are not gonna beat a guy at his own game anyway. If they don't make money, then they aren't there for you. Also, the Toyota dealer ain't likely to tell you straight up what he'll give you anyway. He'll bury the true amount he is putting in your vehicle in that invoice he is going to show you after you say yes. You'd probably faint dead away if you knew the truth. Toyota dealers here just put a price in the window, expecting you to just take it. Saturn too.

If you want to know what your used vehicle is worth, make a friend who is a used car dealer in your area. He can tell you instantly what he'll put in it and how much less the new car dealer will put in it, since the new car guys "sell" them to wholesalers who in turn sell them to used lots.
