I really do see Camos' point and I am not trying to be inflammatory.
I had a bad experience with a number (3) of pre-assembled good quality Master cylinders failing after a very short service life to pedal to the floor terror which wasn't resolved until I rebuilt one of the failed units myself using a really good kit. Long story - not for this thread. Sources in the parts industry tell me this happens on an increasing frequency.
Sorry you went through this. It certainly can be challenging frustrating, annoying and expensive.
Thanks for the heads-up to us all. Good job is done - the message is out there.

Yeah, hindsight is 20/20 isn't it? I didn't even know the bloody thing unscrewed. Figured it was press fit or epoxyed. Like a lot of folks, I didn't have time to do 100% of the homework. I've got the job, the wife, and the 2 year old ... cry me a river right? W/e, it all takes a toll and you budget your time as best you can. As if that weren't enough, the wife's Passat was overdue for its timing belt so I did that first, two weeks ago, bought the parts for the CRD and did it the next. "I'm just saying," don't project your life, capabilities, opportunities, budget, time, etc onto mine. It's my basic assumption (and yes, to ASSUME makes an A-S-S out of U and ME) that a new part in this day and age of 6-sigma, QC, QA, etc would come ready to bolt on. Lesson learned. Crown has clearly never heard of these terms and concepts.

The thread ought to be a sticky so it doesn't sink to the bottom for future would-be Crown purchasers to make the same mistake(s).

PS. I see from IDParts that Crown has discontinued making this part so at least once stocks have been depleted and/or everyone gets the word not to buy these (yeah right), the problem will solve itself.

I must have bought the last one of the Crown thermostats installed the other day then had rocker problems. I have not noticed any of aforementioned problems. Will see what happens. I have an OEM from Idparts on order should have been delivered today. So I will have an OEM and a Crown in at basically the same time an apples to apples test.
