I tried to search but couldn't find any topics about full exhaust replacement / modification....

I have a 2002 that seems to have a cat failing and other pipes getting weak...not sure if I should replace one cat, all 3 or upgrade my whole system.

Anyone change their system, cats and all? Mangaflow lists all 3 cats and a muffler. Would going OE be better?

Also, I plan on keeping the Jeep....as long as I can. It's my daily driver with 172K on it now.

For the cats, just stick with OE. For the rest, you can install an aftermarket muffler but the rest of the piping I'd just stick with something as close to OE as possible.

On my 05 CRD, I ditched the CAT, put in a straight piece of 2.5 pipe and replaced muffler with a Flowmaster, picked up some power, and sounds great to boot! :SOMBRERO:

Ended up going OE - wasn't exactly cheap, but back in business and passed inspection....replaced all 3 cats (one was bad and the y-pipe between the front two and the rear was rotted through). Sold from Chrysler as one part number.

I run a 3 inch pipe from the turbo to a magnaflow muffler and then 3 inch dumps out of the back

How about you CRD guys look at what the OP vehicle is 1st before posting, almost nothing compares between the CRD and gasser KJ's besides suspension,t-case,F/R axles, and brakes, all else in the driveline is completely different.

For the OP OEM is the best and yes costs more but for a reason, those cats are 50 state legal while all others are not. Those aftermarket cats are only about 30%-60% as efficient as the OEM cats.Oh and the OEM cats are the highest flowing cats on the market, and they work also, even in CA.

I concurr. My six year old Magaflow catback set up did the same for my Liberty. Glad I spent the $$.
