Figured I should post what I learned from having TSB 21-009-06 performed. Here are the parts from the service invoice:

68000336-AA CONV PKG TORQUE
5183561-AA COOLER CONDENSER
5073004-AD PUMP TRANSMISSION
4799662 FILTER TRANSMISSION
5013470-AC FILTER PKG TRANSMISS
82300234 SEALER RTV
5013458-AA FLUID TRANSMISSION

Oh, and it originally went in with P0740 - Torque Converter Out of Range.

There is a TSB out to replace TC, tranny cooler and related hardware if tranny has TC failure. The problem started with too many transmissions that went to long without having the TSB for replacing the problem filters. This problem is related to dealers not doing the TSB's promptly, D/C not doing a full recall and drivers not noticing the early shifting problems.

DC is going to pay the price for not being proactive. DC customer service called me today concerning the issues with my dealer. All they did was refer me back to the dealer. She talked in circles, got absolutely nowhere.

Dealers procrastinating on doing the TSB may be the root of these trans failures, but that doesn't explain a new part number for the torque converter does it?

Gotta love that CRD torque. Probably tried to get by on the cheap end of the parts bin, bit them in the booty. I just hope I can convince a dealer to do this replacement before it totally scatters sending shrapnal through the rest of the trans.

I'm really kicking myself on this one. I had the bad filters and the shift delay for months. I knew what the problem was and the tsb but put it off for as long as possible to get a free trans oil change. I put 10,000 miles on it and then got the tsb done. This one could come back to bite me.

Well I probably didn't help mine any by stomping it to the floor when I heard it moaning in reverse the other day. I'm really to the screw-it stage.

I really am too. All this worrying over things I cannot control gives me a headache. Everytime I drive my senses are on full alert. Listening/feeling/sensing for stuff that hasn't even happened yet. It's like opening morning of deer season every time I get in it!!! I'm just going to drive it from now on and take comfort in my warranty. If it screws me, goodbye Chrysler.

This may end up being a situation where the diligent get burned.......unless there is a real recall. The flash and filter TSB's might only delay eventual failure until D/C can claim normal wear. I am not having a real bad problem yet, only one slow morning engagement, once when I shifted from reverse to forward and was left in neverland for a moment, and a little of the stutter when going into high OD at 60. I am afraid to band aid it and then have the TC go at 70K.
