I saw over in the Liberator thread some real nice projectors on the Liberator KJ. Was just wondering if anyone has any specifics on these, like how much, HIDs, available yet or not, etc...because i'd LOVE to get a set for some better lighting at night.

Here's a pic.

Who has the Liberator now? And would they know where to get the bigger flares?

Haven't seen any projector headlights. Would try to get some auxiliary lighting. In your avatar, you already have some, so either set some more, maybe 100watts, or get a pair of HID auxiliary lights (those will run you $1200). Another option is to get some silverstars. You will need to modify the lights a bit, but i've seen it done. Do a search here you'll some info. Also try JeepKJ. Good luck.

I;ve got silverstar bulbs in,no modification required just get the 9007 bulbs, direct replacement. You could use PIAA's 9007's,very bright bulbs. My KC HID's only ran me $700.00 from jcwhittney, pricy but worth it,600,000 candle power with only 2.4 amp draw.KC 150w daylighter is only 385,000 candle power and draws over 14 amps.

Already got 100W bulbs in my aux lighting, but i can't use them on the street, so that kinda defeats the purpose. As for the original headlights, got some pretty nice bulbs in there too as well as the 9005 fog light "mod". I would still like a little better illumination though, and if nothing else, those projectors just look awesome and i REALLY want a set, so if anyone has a line on how i can get some more info on them, that'd be great. thanks.

Am I the only one that ISN'T disappointed with the illumination form the KJ lights? Maybe its the bigger Renegade 'fog' lights that do it for me...

I am going to get those pro comp explorer lights (5 inches and 55 watts). Check http://www.explorerprocomp.com/dealers.php for the dealer closest to you. When used with the factory headlights and two aux lights, that at 220 watts. I think that street legal. There not too expensive, check http://www.4wheelparts.com, cheaper than hellas, kc, and piaas.

I can see fine, could even with the stock lamps. With the Silver Stars I get flashed all the time by folks figuring I am on high beam.

I get flashed at constantly with the stock lamps. So annoying that I turn them off and use the fogs around town.

ok, i think you guys are kinda missing the point, and i don't mean to be rude, but i just really want a set of those projector headlamps. Not only because they will provide better illumination (I assume) but also because they just plain look sweet. I'd love for the lighting to be up-to-par (as far as looks go) witht the rest of the styling on the truck. I think a nice set of projectors would look FANTASTIC on the KJ day or night. So really, this post is less about what lighting is best (because i'm perfectly happy with the bulbs i have now) and more about the headlamp itself. Now if i really wanted to nitpick, i'm not particularly a fan of the stock headlamp pattern, which is not something you can change with merely a bulb, it requires a whole new headlamp assy. which, again, is kinda what i'm after. But don't get me wrong i appreciate everyone's input, i'm just really only interested in these new projector headlamp assemblies. And i apologize in advance if i stepped on any toes, that was/is not my intention.

It's my understanding the the Liberator is a customized trade show vehicle (not in production). Those headlights are likely a custom made prototype, hopefully something we can expect in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, the outer lens on our headlights is removable. You would then only need to buy a preferably compact set of projector housings, and the appropriate xenon kit for it and do the wiring, etc. Just buy a 1/4in thick sheet of plexiglass and cut to fit the housing, then cut a hole to mount the projector assembly. You can get fancy and either mirror coat the plexi or black it out, then just slap the old lens housing back into place. Use the normal adjusting screws for aiming, and it should work just fine.

looks like all they're doing there is putting a peice of round glass in front of a standard halogen bulb, i'm looking for a whole xenon sytem....i could probably adapt a 90mm Hella Xenon projector to some stock KJ housings if i wanted too, but that's a lot of work...i guess i'll have to give it a shot...

Putting custom HID projector lights in the KJ housings is a lot of work, period. Of course you want to do it right and make it look nice, so you cant skimp on the craftsmanship of it.

If you're talking about the one's on Ebay, youre 100 percent correct. DO NOT buy projectors off ebay. Projection lights involves precision optics, and with HID systems, there's not much room for error, as they can severely blind oncoming traffic. Also, don't just buy HID capsules and ballasts and stick them in the standard light ports (some people make these kits claiming they're safe). These cause large amounts of glare to oncoming traffic as well. When you see cars like Altima's with HID reflectors instead of projectors, those have been specially designed just for HID.
