I filled up last night too. Got a cool 15.25 mpg 8) That's with a trip up to Westchester, and a trip out to school as well as some around town errand runs...

Got this :)
Scan gauge E
Still playing with the settings.
Pretty cool so far. (glad I got this instead of the Ecometer. The Scanguage has more features and both worth about the same price)

Can anyone here top that? LOL :D
(For some reason, it shows 9999MPG, when I'm off the accelerator)

That's the fuel cutoff kicking in. That's a good thing.

I'd love to have that 21 mpg average. I've only seen that once lol. Probably won't ever see it again.

Home made intake for under $40. Sounds awesome, engines running cooler, and seems to have a little more pep! And yes I'm going to put a divider/heat shield in between

Looks good...I did something similar to yours. But I move it closer to the front where the air hole located.

Let me know how you going to make the heat shield...I am thinking of doing similar setup too...

Where'd you get that tubing and the blue tube also cuz I want to do something similar

Yea i was looking for something like that but didn't find anything.. I just bought a breather filter instead of connecting it into the main intake. Id switch mine out if i found that plumbing

What did you use to mount the filter to the stock intake piping

No kidding. I got that once with the stock tires on a trip to Cape Cod from VT. That 21 is with a lift and bigger tires!

Don't forget to run the Scangauge for a whole tank of gas, then do the internal calibration. It will tell you how much gas it thinks you used since the last fillup, and then you correct it with how much gas you actually put in when you fill up. That will make the mpg & avg readout more accurate when you're on the highway. If you are running other than stock size tires you will also need to calibrate the mph readout on the Scangauge so it knows how much distance you cover during that tank of gas. I used my GPS to get my actual speed on the highway and then adjusted the scan gauge to match. The difference was something like 2% with my 245/75/16's. SO that 21 mpg it shows off the shelf might be close but it may be overestimating mpg.

If you go to the intake section at an autostire they have different size pipping to use. Mines just a straight 3 or 4 inch, i can't remember. Then the rubber seals that came with the filter on each side and metal clamps to make everything tight.

lol, I wish I could get 21mpg again...that was about 20miles, No traffic with
the Eco mode and cruise control.
But now that I put the Rhino rack on, not sure how much it would affect my mpg.
It does have the fairing, which helps with the wind noise and maybe, aerodynamics 8)

Thanks :)
I did play around with the settings a bit.
I was watching my GPS , the speedo and the scangauge, they were all
in the same page as far as my speed. (got 245/75/16 also)
That 21mpg is prob not accurate, as that was just my initial run prior to adding more setup info.

It would be sweet if 21 mpg was accurate though! It could be. I didn't mean to rain on your parade. I'm not usually a pessimist. Chalk it up to being Jeepless for the week.

Maybe after I get my new engine installed I'll get better mileage again, too. The crate should be arriving at my mechanic's tomorrow!

Forgive me if you mentioned already, but how many miles will be on the "new" engine that's going in? I'm sure you've got a lot on your mind about it, but do you have to contact Jeep or your insurance company about this?
