Being in the insurance industry, I can't see it being an issue if another Jeep motor, of like kind, is being swapped in. If another type of motor altogether was being put in, that could be an issue.

If you approach the replacement motor from a claims side of things, or any replacement part for that matter, a lot companies will replace parts with LKQ (like kind and quality) and insure the vehicle just the same.

It would be sweet if 21 mpg was accurate though! It could be. I didn't mean to rain on your parade. I'm not usually a pessimist. Chalk it up to being Jeepless for the week.

Maybe after I get my new engine installed I'll get better mileage again, too. The crate should be arriving at my mechanic's tomorrow!

Forgive me if you mentioned already, but how many miles will be on the "new" engine that's going in? I'm sure you've got a lot on your mind about it, but do you have to contact Jeep or your insurance company about this?

The new engine is a remanufactured 3.7 from the same year that will be plug and play. The company that remanufactures the engines is Jasper Engines out of Indiana. http://www.jasperengines.com/index.php Their remanufactured engines come with all new internal and external parts, so the motor will have 0 miles on it and be run-tested at the factory. It also comes with a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty on it for both parts and labor should something go wrong. I went this route over a junkyard motor even though it is more expensive because I like the peace of mind of the warranty and I want to keep my KK for a long, long time.

Insurance doesn't cover this repair because I didn't collide with anything. If I had hit an object and it ruined the motor, that would be a different story. Instead, this is an internal failure of a rod bearing. Unlucky and pretty rare because I haven't seen this on the forum before. Also, engine replacement is not covered under warranty because the lifetime power train warranty from 2008 only applied to the first owner of the Jeep, and I am the second owner. I am way past the 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty that was transferrable.

Looks Good! My suggestion is to use 3M tape or some other adhesive and not what comes with the headlight covers. If you ever remove them. The adhesive doesn't come off.

Are you painting them to match or leaving them black?

Looks really good! Love the red with black accents color scheme. Are you going to leave your headlight covers black or paint them red to match?

Getting a spacer lift installed today courtesy of jeepncrowd (no flaming it's to keep the tires off of steel bumpers temporarily :D)

Can anyone tell me why the forks from a 2011 Kk won't fit an 08? Did they change something drastically in those years? The flat forks from the 2011 certainly look different but I didn't expect them to rub on my CV

Howard you beat me to the punch. Was gonna say the same that I like the black bar and wheels contrast looks hot against the red truck. I like it almost as much as I like my black against my white truck. Lol

They should fit. I think they just changed how they were built. Maybe something was tweaked in the accident?

Give it time to settle some. You'll get that 2.5 lol. LKW, I think the JK bumper makes it look higher too.
