I just pulled the crd into the garage and plan on starting in the next few hours/day on the shiftkit/TC replace.

Just wondering from anyone that has done it what are some pointers that they found out the hard way.

Also how many bell housing bolts are their? This was the main reason for my post as i hate the idea of fighting with something that is still bolted up by a bolt you can't see and didn't know was there.

Also about how many qts of ATF did it take to get it back to full after the new converter and shift kit?

keep us posted on details,, I too will be doing this soon, there were some debates on fluid capacity. like a dummy I started my engine last week after installing a timing belt on an engine that was disassembled when I bought it, and not thinking about the tranny cooler I was letting it purr like a kitten until I stepped out and saw the red stuff all over the floor. I guesstamated there was about 4 qts on the floor. 4 qts way over filled

Will do. I just pulled my computer to send out to IM for a stage 2. I plan on putting it up on jackstands tomorrow and starting the teardown. I also have the hemi TCM to install and train if i ever remember to grab it when i'm at my parents in the next week.

I have 8 qts already but i want to get another 8 to make sure i have enough, and while i have it up i figure I'm going to change the transfercase out also.

that's a good idea, and check to see if full synthetic is available for that transfer, im a believer in synthetic fluids.

the Tcase already should have synthetic, as it uses the atf+4

Looks like 16qt will be enough for the trans and the tcase

kool,,,I have got to do a complete service on mine, I bought it not running in boxes and last week after its initial start up ive been driving it daily. I haven't got to the point of checking the type and capacity level beyond the engine and tranny,,lol.
