I was wondering if anyone could give me some help or insight on painting my new bumper?

I planned to get it powder coated but am unable to find anywhere locally that is still around that does it.

I'm going in Monday to get my tonsils out. Due to my age I hear I'll be out if commission for a while so I'm hoping to at least get some of the prep/paint done today and tomorrow. I'm new to painting stuff so I don't even know what all to use or where to start. The bumper is steel so something to prevent rust obviously.

Any help, tips, product advise would be nice. Thank you!

Wish you were closer or I'd shoot yours along with my set with Por-15.
With painting, prep is everything. You'll want to make sure everything is clean. Use phosphoric acid (lowes) to clean and etch the steel. Use a good primer then paint of choice. Many light coats are better than one coat!

I used steel wool, acetone and a rust remover to scuff up the steel then nearly 4 cans of white rustolium primer.

Then 3.5/4 cans of rustolium hammertone for the top coat.

It rained the entire time I painted and it took ages for things to dry but the finish turned out really nice
