Had to add a decent amount of coolant to the reservoir :-( I'm hoping I don't have an issue but I know low coolant is not a good sign.

It does evaporate slowly over time. What year is your KK?

It's a 2009 with only 27k miles. I bought it with only 14.5k last year. So I know the previous owner had it sit a long time. I wasn't aware that coolant evaporates so good to know.

I bet if you keep an eye on the coolant, you'll see it won't disappear. I think the amount you replaced probably evaporated over 5 years, if nobody ever added any. I did the same when I picked up my 2008 in 2011 and it stayed filled after that. Just be sure you used red HOAT coolant; if not you're going to need to flush the system and start over. The "universal" green coolant doesn't play nice with our engines and eats the internals of your water pump and cooling system.

I used Prestone Universal 50/50 mixed blend. It was yellow in color.

Hopefully I won't have any issues with the universal. Auto Zone didn't sell a HOAT only universal and the GM coolant.

My father in law has an 06 Dodge Dakota with the same engine and he said he hadn't had any issues with the Prestone brand.

I guess I should have gone to the dealer on Monday to get the HOAT and not worry about mixing.

I think Zerex (sp?) is HOAT and is available at most auto parts stores.

Do a search for "do I really need HOAT coolant" here and on JeepForum and you'll find some pretty convincing reasons why mixing coolant types will have negative effects in the long run (clogged heater core, mud in engine passages, water pump failure, overheating, etc.). It would be good know going forward, so you can decide whether it would be worth it to flush the system soon and refill with all HOAT. You are probably ok for a few days if it's just temporary.

Zerex G-05 is HOAT (NAPA is the only place I've found it) the universal stuff isnt. I know its expensive about $25 a gallon but from everything I've read it isnt worth taking the risk with the universal stuff in your system.

Yeah, i probably need to do a coolant flush anyway due to the age of the Liberty. I think its every 5 years?

We don't have a Napa anywhere near me. Closest is Auto Zone and Walmart.

One other thing I wanted to ask you guys. Is your A/C ice cold? I bought one of those A/C chargers and it registered within spec but the air is cold but not very cold.

Do you happen to know which 15s fit? I'm looking to save a little on rims and get more tire options
